So, I sold my 1999 S3 two years ago, figuring that I couldn't ride 2 bikes . . . I have changed my mind and now believe that I can indeed run two bikes at the same time. With that said, I went to a demo ride this past weekend and got to ride a 2009 1125R. While riding, before even knowing about any issues it has, I started to feel a burning in my foot (I have since read about some issues). Now, I have used the search function and found some discussions about the right foot heat. Most people have stated that after the reflash the heat seems to be gone, well, I am most certainly sure it was there and seeing as the bike was a 2009, I've got to believe that it had the latest flash. My question is, is this still an issue for you guys? Or more simply, how bad was it before that what I felt is "better"? I loved the bike and will most likely be picking one up, I just want to know if the bike I tried was acting normal or whether or not it had a problem. | ||

I've never had any heat or discomfort issues, although it does seem to run cooler with latest flash. I no longer have to let the bike cool down outdoors to stop a build up of petrol fumes and fuel dripping out of the breather. Previously,it stained the carpet in my workshop  | ||

I have an "09" with no heat issues that I have noticed, even before the newest flash! Don't be sure on the latest flash, mine did not have it at purchase nor at first service? I only new about the latest flash thanks to OSB telling me to ask about it when I took the bike in for a different issue! | ||

HEAT will always be an issue when making that much torq and hp. slow riding and heavy traffic exacerbate this issue. (makes me wonder about wrapping the fuel tank around the cylinders) I love my 09 cr. Nothing is like it and I have not seen another one on the road yet. She has done all I asked and more. We have bonded. It is a little shocking that the bike losses about half its value the second you drive it off the lot. Guess I really am stuck riding this one for awhile. (at least until the loan is paid down to the trade in value. I don’t have an extra 6K laying around to bring the loan down to book value) It’s pretty sweet to know there ain’t much stock out there that you don’t have something for. | ||

I don't have any heat issues with my CR. I do get the dripping fuel, which sucks, but I just leave it parked in the drive way for an hour before I put it back in my shop. My shop floor is epoxy with Racedeck on top of it, so the gas won't hurt it, but it stinks up the house something awful. I'm very impressed at how well the CR cools itself. Even in stop and go traffic, I didn't see coolant temps get over 198 degrees. I am NOT heat tolerant at all, so I know it's not just me. I had an FJR1300 that if you got caught in traffic on it would make you woozy with heat exhaustion. When the fan came on, the hot air came right up the forks and hit you in the face. It was very bad. | ||

I havn't had any hot foot issues w/my CR. I have experienced a fair ammount of heat and discomfort in the calf area in 95 degree heat + traffic though. Once you get up to speed it's more or less smooth sailing. | ||

I have an 09 1125R and right foot heat issue has been of no consequence, whilst in the UK the average ambient air temp is obviously lower than the hotter parts of the USA we have had some relatively hot days here recently and I have not had a problem. | ||

Ditto love my 1125CR and heat issues are really non existant so far temps dont get above 205. I havent experienced the solenoid problem in 3rd. I do have the resistor plug just in case but havent installed it yet. I think the bike runs great stock. Current fuel values for front cylinder are 99.5 and rear is or always stays 100. Has been this way since I bought it. I have 1400 miles on her in only 3 weeks. Bike is just awesome I usually get 37 to 40 mpg riding hard. | ||

What kind of boots did you have on? I've never felt any excessive heat in my feet on my 08 1125R, as far as that goes it's no hotter than any high performance bike I've ridden. On my 1200+ mile ride to VIR I averaged 38 mpg for the entire trip. The speedo and odometer has to be the most accurate I've ever seen on a motorcycle too. I've never seen it hit 200 degrees and I think it's great that the fan comes on and cools it some after engine shutdown. Good thinkin'. The only time I've had dripping fuel out of the overflow/vent tube is when I overfilled it when hot and immediately parked it. Who's fault was that? I always fill it just to the bottom of the filler next insert. | ||

I don't wear flip-flops, so I've never felt heat on my right foot. I have a 2009 as well. Only heat I feel comes from the frame in hot weather but the Gripskins help a lot in that regard. As long as I can keep moving, I'm fine. Getting stuck in traffic isn't much fun, but you can say that about ANY bike even if it is for different reasons. | ||

Here in Texas its an issue. specialy in trafic. Having said that, for a couple three hundred bucks and an espy program the bike can be made into a cool running HP/TQ monster that make the bike run very smooth. Its an easy fix for an anoying problem that can get very uncomfortable in 95f temps for every day riding in town here in Houston. However besides that, the bike really is all that. it really depends on outside temperature and length of time on the bike. the heat is additive when taking long trips. i will end up on the streetbike hanging my foot from the heel on the passenger peg right side only. on the track bike my right foot gets hot in the longer distance races and is a non issue in the sprints unless i have back to back races. coming up on 2 years and i'm not trading off. stock exhaust on both bikes. tim | ||

my girl has 07 cbr 600rr and it puts of more heat then my 08 1125r. only reason i know is im on vacation and my bike is awaiting new rear tire. ive got the tire now but thebike is hour away. but this whole week weve been on hers and ive been shocked at the heat. people have always complain of the 1125's heat and ive noticed the frame heat in the summers but nothing to bad. and people are right with the power bikes put out now a days and the size companies have made the bikes its hard to get them cooled with the a/f epa and others push on them. but a little tweek on the fuel and its night and day. | ||

I think the right hot foot s alot to due with the proximity of the peg to the dogbone. My peg gets super-heated and goes right thru my shoe. (Message edited by fresnobuell on August 20, 2009) | ||

Yeah Fresno, that is kinda what I was thinking. I wasn't wearing boots 'cause I threw them out when I got rid of my last Buell and my HD boots are not good for a sport bike. I was wearing a pair of Nike's . . . I know I should have work boots, but it was only a demo ride  As for the comments about traffic and what not, that makes sense. I got into 4th gear for maybe 5 seconds on a 45 minute ride and there were a few long stops. A guy went down, so the "marshall" at the back of the group stayed with him, which left us only one "marshall" who was at the front. Myself and the other 2 Buell's let the group get away at one point and had to catch up. That was the only time that I got to see what the bike can do. I only rang it out in 2nd to about 8k then shifted to 3rd. Man, that was fast, but I know there is more in it. Can't wait to get one. I can get an new '08 for 9k Canadian, so I am working on the wife, wish me luck! (Message edited by wack76 on August 20, 2009) | ||

My statement above makes it sound like this is an everyday occurrence. It's not. I happens only on the hottest of days and only after extended riding--and it's bearable for sure. The only time it was really bad was my last track day in the low 100's for the last couple sessions.} | ||

My '08 R and '09 CR were both great with no heat problem on the right foot. I could barely tell it even in stop and go traffic this summer. Have fun. Both are great bikes. Frank. | ||

Some of you are actually getting "37 to 40mpg", riding hard??? Must be different degrees of hard,, I'm lucky to get 31-32 on the thing. | ||

Mine shows an average of 36, but I've not taken it on a long (full tank) hard ride yet. | ||

I'm more about rapid and smooth riding...and the "pace". And I use all 6 gears. | ||

My average for "in town" riding is 29mpg....much more on a long stretch of highway with no stop and go. |
