Hello Everyone, I think my post may have been lost in the transition when the forum had issues, but I had posted that I had test rode a couple of 2008 1125r's at a local dealership and had a lot of stalling issues with them. With everyone's help here on the forum I was reassured these are good machines and was introduced to Bumpus Harley Davidson in Murfreesboro, TN. The local guys here in NC did not want to budge on a price of a Buell or give me anything for my Night Train as trade in, I understand everyone needs to make a dollar, but come on. So Ft_Bstrd posted about his "fly and drive" offer. I thought it sounded like a bunch of bs at first to be honest with you. I spoke with Jeremy the following Sunday and the dealership contacted me that Monday. I gave them my info for the credit checks, etc. and within 2 hours I was contacted by Tom at Bumpus HD. Tom and I conversed over the next few days and he put some deals together for me. These deals were far and away different from anything I had found locally. By different I mean they were much better. For the first time in probably 10 years I was able to work out a deal that I felt did 2 things. 1) The dealership actually wanted to do everything possible to make the sell and that shows they care about their customers. 2) I felt like I received the very best deal possible and did not get took to the cleaners. When I bought my new HD Night Train, the local dealer in Winston Salem, NC wouldn't even give me a t-shirt and that is no joke. They have a take it or leave it attitude. Long story short, I travel 7 hours to TN this coming Saturday to deliver my Night Train trade in and take ownership of my new 2008 Buell 1125r! I will never, ever buy anything else from anyone besides these guys, first class and top notch do not even begin to describe the experience. For anyone thinking about taking them up on this "fly and ride" deal, don't walk - RUN to the nearest phone and give Jeremy and Tom a call. TN is where I was born and lived for the first 30 years of my life and people like Tom and Jeremy make me truly miss the area. Again to everyone on the board, Thank You, for taking the time to inform a long time motorcycle rider, but a Buell "Noobie". To Bumpus HD and Buell, Thank You, for caring about the customer and going the extra mile to make a great deal, it means everything! Jason (Winston Salem, NC.) Jpowell490@gmail.com |

+1 on Bumpus. Just bought my 2009 CR there Saturday. Jeremy has been a friend for years. I was his MSF instructor. Tom is a great guy, and I've chased him a few times around the racetrack. He's not only a dealer, but a true enthusiast who is customer focused. He runs a good shop. Buells are right by the front door, and the Buell section is right up front...complete with a flat screen TV running Buell videos. If you don't have a good shop near you, be sure to reach out to Jeremy or Tom at Bumpus in Mufreesboro. |

Jpowell, my situation up here in Ohio is so similar to yours. Same scenario when I purchased my new Night Train. I got lucky and sold mine to a guy in Canada, rather than trading it in. I wish I knew about Bumpus before I purchased my new 1125R. Best of luck on your new purchase. I enjoy riding my 1125R much better than the Night Train, wish I could have kept the Night Train for obvious reasons though! |

Tbenson, Yea, the Night Train is an awesome machine and mine is like brand new. The thing I don't like is two fold. I don't like the extra heat from the air cooled engine down here in NC where it is high humidity and about 95 daily. The other part is I wear a half helmet and all the road dust, bugs, etc. beat you to death. I could wear a full face I know, but something just doesn't seem right about a harley and a sportbike helmet, lol. Last, I grew up on sport bikes and they are just plain out fun. It was really perfect timing on the Bumpus deal, actually I had not planned on trading for about another month, but this deal was just WAY too good to pass up and I am glad I did it. |

Same shape with my 2007 Night Train, the buyer could not believe the shape it was in, he made a comment how meticulous I was with the bike. I tuned mine with a Thundermax with different exhaust and AC, and that lowered the heat alot. This was my only cruiser I have owned, the rest of my bikes have all been sportbikes. I thought since I was getting older and fatter I would get a cruiser, did not fill the void though, so I decided to get older and fatter on a sportbike instead! |

Thank you Jason for giving us the opportunity to work with you. It was great to meet you and to get a chance to talk with your dad. We had a couple snafus. I brain farted and gave him the wrong key (good thing there are two) and we somehow got the owners manual from his Night Train in the bag instead of the one for the 1125R (we'll get that to you as well). I also got a concerned phone call from the road on how to get the gas cap to come off. Otherwise, I hope you enjoyed your experience with us. We sincerely appreciate your business!

Hey Jeremy, Just got home after a very long 24 hours. I will elaborate more on the journey tomorrow. No worries on the key and owners manual, just simple mistakes. The gascap......30 minutes later it came off, that thing is a BASTARD to get off. When I got home I tried again and it was a little tough, but came off. Like I said, when my rear stops hurting and my body recovers from about 18 hours of travel, I will post more. For the record, Bumpus is an AWESOME shop. The finance girls were great and Jeremy is top notch. |

Congrats on the new ride Jason! Well done FB, sounds like you have a very satisfied customer. Is that a S1 White Lightning poster in the background? It's hard to tell if it's an S1W or X1W. |

That's the famous "Take One for a Test Prowl" poster from the Australian intro at Second Creek. Great story about where the poster came from. I've got the t-shirt and necklaces (yeah, they actually did necklaces like dog tags on a leather lanyard for the "Outback" intro) around here somewhere. Jeremy . . . are all those spaces available for posters? If so, I've got a couple hundred Buell posters here and sometime when I get into the pile I may be able to look for duplicates. |

Mind mind is leaving me . . . EASTERN CREEK . . . not Second Creek . . that was the XBRR
The story of where this campaign came from is fascinating (think Merrill-Lynch) and is rivaled only by where the name "Fat Boy" evolved from. Alcohol figured in both cases. Remind me to tell you. |

If you find duplicates... Eastern Creek is a great track, turn one still frightens the hell out of me though, I can't do it without braking at least a bit. There seem to be a lot of fascinating stories associated with the S1/S1W. Just the fact that it became a production bike is fascinating to me. |

Just so you guys know...the pic of Fatty B and JPowell was made in the Buell display....right in the front of the store. As soon as you walk in, a Buell is the first thing you see. Tom Bumpus and his crew do a great job promoting and selling Buells. You have to walk past reception, the table full of food (typically always food there) and the parts counter before you get to where the HDs are displayed. The way God intended! |
