Who here has done it and what is the list of parts... I like the idea of this swap. It cleans up the bottom side of the bike. relocates the oil tank to a lower center of gravity, with better cooling. Puts a compression shock in the mix(will be a longer and probably cheaper supply of XB shocks available for some time to come.)Havent heard of any XB shocks coming apart and dropp'n the bike to the pavement( biggest Plus of all ). Allows the use of XB wheel and brakes if I choose. So who here has done it and has the list. |

Theres not really a list of parts, a lot of it is custom fabricated... |

The last point you said is easy to accomplish without all that fabricating. '99-up tubers already have the same rear caliper as the XB, and Hals makes the spacers to pop on the rear XB wheel. Ask me how I know... |

My main thought was the shock. Spilling my S3T on the ground ,because of a broken shock and or my overloading, is just not acceptable. Moving the oil tank, is kinda a given with an XB swing arm. The XB wheels are a throw in thing, I kinda like the stock cast wheels. But, Phelan, I would like to see picts... kinda curious to see those wheels on a tuber.... Is there a limit on searches here on the boards. My searches are freezing after i click search. Other wise I would of searched instead of starting a new thread. |

There's no limit to searches, just make sure you're checking "search by keyword" or "search by date". Sometime's they're unchecked by default and it won't work. |

Yep, found Joe's Buell... *SIGH* and found the bug in the ointment. The S3 passenger pegs mounts have to be bent outward to clear the swingarm. Which will mean, hacking up the bag mounts on a S3T for clearance throughout the arc of the swingarm. And that puts the wide bags farther out from the main body of the bike. Not sure if I care for the... No, I'm SURE in don't want the UltraGlide look for my buell!!!! Nope No fringe NO conchos No no. So back to the planing stage. (please get that image out of my brain) Oh and Joes Buell is a BEAUTIFULL piece of work. But, my other half will veto the removal for the passenger pegs! |

You will in time, my friend. The wheels will be in next week. I'm going to strip the powdercoat off, press innthe bearings, mount the Scorpion Syncs, then install. A few more weeks and it'll be done and I'll have a lot of shiney pictures . |

YES, I found and read the entire thread. Perfectly done Jodie, and flawless to the end. Most guys rush when they can see the end of the project. My hangup is my wide Bags. They were one of the major factors for buying the S3T. So they are staying on the bike, and the bag frames attach to the passenger pegs. They must stay parallel to each other(No bat wing Bags). This means widening the all ready FAT Bummed girl 2 inches (guessing) on each side, 40 inches now. And don't get me wrong, I'm not afraid to drag a bike through the corners. The crew I ride with will attest to me dragging peg mounts and center stand parts of my previous bike while two up (No chicken strip at all on tires). I'm worried about making my buell, like the rest of the Harley family. CORNER CHALLINGED! If you have doubts take a 14" long pvc pipe, curtan rod whatever, and attach it to your passenger pegs and look at the lean angle you have lost! Even better go for a ride. And nothing personal guys, but, i think it will look like S**T with the bags that far away from the bike. Kinda like those expensive unpainted ammo cans the BMW guys slap on their bikes. |

Pat, you really only need to tweak the pillion peg mounts about a quarter of an inch for them to clear the swingarm. I only modified the pillion peg mounts because I could And even if you did mod the mounts you would only have to just alter the lower parts of your saddle bag frame were they attach to the rear pegs, no big deal! It would look cool a stock looking S3 fitted with the XB swingarm. |

I'm looking at modifying the stock swing arm. It has the obvious benefit of being a first. Also 100 percent reversible and a sleeper mod. I love that. Only the people you want to know will realize its there. The bike stays in use, right up until the donor arm is ready to install, down time is a weekend. But, I'll keep the XB arm in mind. They are cheaper than a stockX1 arm, travel clearance will be my only question. I have to mount up the arm and build and upper mount to collapse the shock and then I get the clearance. |
