I think a set a Buell themed leathers would be really cool. I also know someone who could produce them at a reasonable price. Would there be enough interest to do a group buy? Could we get some sort of allowance from BMC to allow the construction if the Buell logos were patches provided by BMC? |

I'd be interested, depending on the price. |

Yep. I'm pretty sure we could get Kelcey to cook some up for us. He does great work and we could get them custom fit. I'd love to see what we could get a group buy priced for. |

All the top speedway racers use NJK leathers here at Fast Fridays, Auburn, CA. |

I've seen quite a few track day riders and racers on road courses wearing them too. Z custom leathers and Bates also make quality custom leathers. Barnacle Bill's is a little closer to home for you FB, but they are a lower tier than the previously mentioned brands IMHO. I may be interested, if the price is right (po' folks you know). My 2 piece firstgear suit is nice enough, but I believe in top notch gear, and that belief has saved my life. If you contact Buell and explain what you want it should be no problem since it is not for personal gain. BTW what colors were you wanting to do this in? to get the better rates they will want all of the suits to be made the same cut and colors IIRC. |

Group buy price? How about two piece, custom tailored, perfed and padded, under $800? Not that I'm bidding yet, just thinkin'. If I bought it from you, I could save the state sales tax. Interesting. |

For an "ordinary" retailer to get the license to use the Buell name/logo would be cost prohibitive I'm sure. Bumpus, however, already have an agreement with Buell on how, where, what etc. If you get with your management at Bumpus you have a chance to keep costs low enough. Good luck!!! |

I can't believe that HD has not figured out that Buell riders want a protective leathers and don't offer custom fitting right in the dealer. Sort of like a 1 stop track ready dealer. 1125rr, Shoei RF-1000, leathers, tire warmers, ect THESE ARE THE FARKLES WE WANT!! |

I do not have pricing yet. I wanted to gauge interest first. The copywrited stuff would probably be patches supplied by BMC. Under that arrangement, I don't think they'd have a problem. NJK produces top shelf products. I'd probably need 20 commitments to get a significant discount. The leathers usually start at $1,150. Additional features add to that cost. The difficulty is in ordering leather. Usually, the color and quantity ordered is so small that significant price discounts are difficult to create. Ordering leather and construction supplies for a large order would help Kelcey to drop the price. I don't know how much, but I will work that end. |

At that price, in blue and yellow colors, I'd not be interested. |

Really cool idea and unless the trademark issues have changed since I had my leathers built - you have to get patches and have them sewn on. You CAN choose a font and have the letters "BUELL" cut out and sewn but the copyrighted images themselves are controlled by the Mother Company. I'd think this'd be a good deal if you could get a dozen riders to agree on a single color combo and then maybe have a list of a couple options: Hump, 2-piece... for a couple hundred $$ extra. |

sorry Fat...I just realized my post came off as a hijack/undermining type thing. I in no way meant to detract from your idea. just to justify my posting and maybe help you guys ,I will say this: That model two piece set is a discontinued line from First Racing. A local leather shop is selling the jackets for $99, and zip on pants for $179.VERY heavy leather , full removable armor. Maybe a deal could be worked out with First Racing to get closeout wholesale pricing, which I am sure the local store got.Just a thought. Like I said, this is PREMIUM gear, the price in no way reflects the quality.Again, sorry if I come off as stepping on your toes...Pauly |

I'd probably have him to design something rather than use a stock design. |
