howdie,i just dynoed my 08 1125r,its got a custom made free flowing(LOUD) exhaust, remus powerizer fitted and has been denoided. It got 135hp and 84 ftlbs at rear wheel(110kw&114nm)at 10k rpm.My questions are what does a totally standard 08 1125r get, and what value would a K&N airfilter be with the mods i have?.The bike seems to have more mid range since the remus was fitted. |

Um, stock gets 125-127 hp I think. |

completely depends on the dyno, weather, and operator. unless you did a base run before the changes the numbers you have right now really wont help much. a bike on one dyno usually will read a bit different on another. |

You probably gained 5-7hp for all those $'s over stock. By the time you do the math, you are looking at $150-170 per hp. I would like a better sound, but I can't justify the $'s. I sure can't justify it for the performance increase! |

I'm with ya ccryder. I don't think the stock exhaust is all that quite, and the intake honk is beautiful. I'm thinking this might be my first bike since I mistakenly bought a Goldwing to keep it's stock exhaust. I have a feeling money will be going to tires, tires, tires, and tires. Then more tires. |

Chad: Add the K&N and you WILL hear the honk! BTW all Torx fasteners on the 1125 are T30, not T27 like your Uly. Neil S. |

Really? That's odd. I used my T27 bit to remove them yesterday. Humm...well, maybe I didn't. I'll have to go check. I don't think I have a T30 bit. |

T27 will work...but not optimal. I did the same thing as the XBs were T27. Took me a while to figure it out. |

Someone once told me "a day at the track will make you faster than any aftermarket accessory ever will." I won't mention Daves name but he knows who he is:P |

T27 will work but if you get a stubborn one, you will FUBAR the the screwhead versus loosening it with the T30. Oh yeah the black Torx T30 screws are M6x1.0. I think Zac found one screw on the 1125 that is still T27 and 1/4-20, IIRC it is a stainless colored one versus the black metric ones. I have a Fastenal across the street and can pick up some good hard bits like I got if you want. |

Experience has shown...they are T30 M6-1.0. If yours aren't...something is wrong. ac |

We got almost 135hp at the rear wheel with stock exhaust, modified K&N filter (From a Ford Exploder 4.0L V-8). I'll post the dyno graph later tonight. |

Just read in RRW (very nice article about BMC) that all the Buells are made on the same assembly line (not at the same time obviously.) This may help explain how XB bolts or pieces may occasionally end up on the 1125. |

Most of the Torx fasteners that are a T27 on XB models are T30 on Helicon models. The thread pitch on the Torx fasteners should be identical if memory serves me correctly, so it's not to big of an issue. But it would be nice to supply a VIN to Court so that any assembly issues can be looked at. |

XB's have T27 w/ 1/4-20, and Helicon are T30 w/ M6. NOT the same... |

Odinbueller, That is totally wrong. The T30 are definitely M6-1.0. The T27 are definitely 1/4-20. I learned this the hard way. PO/Dealer/Factory, somewhere along the line (all is speculation except I did not do it) T27s were used on my belt guards. They jammed in quite well and I had to re thread the swing arm for the proper T30s. If you guys are using them interchangeably you really need to evaluate that. ac |

Sorry bout that! Had a moment. Not sure why I thought the thread pitch was the same. Thanks for the correction. |

Again . . . if someone has FACTS, I'd like them. Just:
- VIN
- Problem
- Incidence (how many)
With that I can find out what happened, what day, how and nearly insure it never happens again. It's a pretty neat process. Any and all help is appreciated. |

Court, This does mean that the 1125R should be ALL T30, M6-1.0 correct? My situation has WAY too many variables to pin down exactly where the error occurred so I will not waste anyone's time with it. I just want to make sure my path forward is correct. Ran an M6-1.0 tap through the holes and cleaned them up. If they become weak in the future I will helicoil them M6-1.0. That seems like it would be "proper" for this bike. ac |

Harlan: I really think that your idea, based on the RRW article, is waaaay off base. From the 4 times I have seen the Buell factory assembly line, Buell purchases finished parts and assembles them at the factory. To the best of my knowledge, they don't do any machine work, and only assemble the finished components into a motorcycle. They have VERY extensive Work Instructions with Poka Yokes built into their process. From a manufacturing standpoint, IMHO, this is a very good way to do final assembly. You do have to have suppliers with 6 Sigma manufacturing capability in order to trust what they manufacture is what you have ordered. All right I'll put my other hat on and work on some OSHA and EPA training (hey it pays the bills and can you say J-O-B S-E-C-U-R-I-T-Y!) Later Neil S. |

1:1 Throttle Lock/Noid disabled/Otherwise BONER 09 11R with 350 miles on the clock. Conventional factory blood, not syn...and tight to say the least... 131+ & 79+...in the heat. Single wideband A/F via stock exhaust exit, (inaccurate being both cylinders are mixed therein) 13.6~13.9:1 on pump gas measured, just the same. Afv's were @ 105/105, 900' above sea level elevation - CL Enabled. NO tuning or other mods than mentioned above. Please note the effects of heat (both good and bad) in all other runs graphed...as these runs are in order. If you are going to talk dyno runs, please post proof and/or related info... FYI/FWIW, Peak numbers don't tell you anything, look under them. This post is not offered up for q/a, just info that has already been proven relevant in the past. Have fun.

I really think that your idea, based on the RRW article, is waaaay off base Neil, I was speculating. I am sure you are correct. The XB screws that apparently got into the 1125 in the other thread was probably a mistake elsewhere. Thanks for correcting.} |

I went and checked and I do indeed have a T30 bit. I tried the T27, and it worked, but the T30 was better. Badweb saved me a stripped screw at the very least. Thanks guys. |

Court, both my 08's have the silver torx 27 screw on the right side in the plastic closeout cover between the frame and footpeg. vin 501 and 316. screws in and out without slop in the threads so i think it is normal. good luck with the info. tim |

Court - Loretta's VIN is moot, page 58 of the 08 parts book lists the heat-dam screw as AA0412.11CXZB. In the index it's listed (p. 120) as SCREW, 1/4-20 X 1.5 TORX truss head w/ Scotch grip (Grade 2)(bright zinc). There are 10 different fasteners listed that are SAE, not Metric. I've only found the one so far in my wrenching... Zack |
