Does anyone know what thread the belt guard bolts are? Does anyone have the part number? I tried to change my tires and the upper belt guard bolts were IMPOSSIBLE to get off. Both stripped long before they loosened. I finally got them off and changed the tire, but now I need to chase the threads and buy new bolts. ac | ||

How could they be stripped, have you heard about the expensive awesome torque wrenches that they use at the dealer?JK | ||

Seriously. They simply would not come off. I had the impact driver out and no luck. I had to go to Sears and get an extractor set. That was the ONLY way it was coming out! Now I need to get replacements and chase the threads. I think they are 1/4-20. Ac | ||

I believe they are M6x1.0 threads as are the body panel fasteners. Z edit- the only 1/4-20 I have found is the plastic heat dam by the rear cylinder. (Message edited by zac4mac on August 16, 2009) | ||

Are these the torx bolts like the XB has? Those little stainless suckers are 1/4-20 and can sometimes be royal PITAs. | ||

They are not the same as the body plastics. They are similar size, but the body fasteners are finer thread. I bet they are the same as the XB. Stainless sounds right. I think they need antiseeze to prevent this. Ac | ||

MY belt guards' screws ARE the same as the body screws. I throw them all in a bowl and re-assemble out of it. Get a parts book. CA0030.1AMA edit- XBs use 1/4-20 and take a T-27, the 1125 uses METRIC, they are M6-1.0 and use a T-30. I use a T-27 as a speed wrench, but if you put a lot of force you will strip. Zac, Now I am even more confused. I pulled a few body bolts. They are all M6-1.0. I agree. They are significantly DIFFERENT from what came out of my belt guards. ALL of the body bolts I could find were shouldered. My belt guard bolts are not. The threads on the body bolts are MUCH finer than what came out of my belt guards. I was wondering why the T30 tool didn't seem to fit the belt guard bolts. I think they are T27 (most are a bit too knackered to determine accurately). ac | ||

Zac, I didn't get it new. I wonder if the P/O screwed up and put the wrong bolts in? Maybe he got some for an XB. That might explain why they were impossible to get out. I foresee a Helicoil kit in my future... ac | ||

That would explain why they are stripped by taking them out and hard to get out. They put in the XB SAE hardware and buggered the threads. That sucks. | ||

Yeah, that sucks. The XB body bolts (and nearly all Torx bolts on the bike) are T27. Most bolts on both of my XB's have been boogered up by the POs. I know a T27 driver wasn't part of the kits I bought, so people must try to force either a T25 or T30. Antiseize is a must on many of these fasteners. | ||

Zac, Is the bolt that BELONGS in there the same as all of the other bolts on the bike? If so, I will grab a dozen when I am at the dealer so I have some spares. I see an M6x1.0 helicoil kit as being a good investment at this point. ac | ||

The fasteners in my belt guards are the same T-30 shoulder bolts as the body panel screws. Airbox cover, pods, rear section and belt guards, all CA0030.1AMA. Also used to hold the rear brake m/c to the frame. The seat is the same thread, but no shoulder - CA0023.1AM. Nylon washers - BA0509.6. Z | ||

Zac, Ordered up 4 CA0030.1AMA from the local dealer. $10.70 with tax. Will be in by Friday. I picked up an M6-1.0 helicoil kit. I will have it better than new. Thanks for all the help! ac | ||

Seems like I got lucky. I ran an M6-1.0 tap through and it seems like there is enough to work. I took the front fender bolts for now and used them. A little blue loctite should help keep everything together. ac | ||

If someone has a 2008 1125 parts catalog, would you mind snapping a picture of the following page? I need the part numbers for the footpeg mount bracket, and all the various screws which mount it to the idler pulley bracket, etc.  (Message edited by bhushon1 on September 27, 2013) |
