Well today was a productive day! I got the works shock installed. I used my trusty Buell ratchet straps and a clothes line pole to lift the rear up. You can see the shock reservoir removed and hanging. I used a small floor jack to get the bike up enough to get one strap on, Then i pushed the bike the other direction and put a brick under the kick stand to get the second strap on. Then up she went!  Here is a closer shot  Here is a pic of the shock bolt out  Now here is pic of how i used the floor jack to lift the swing arm so i could get the bolts in. I carefully placed the edge of the jack on the belt under the pulley and lifted until i had enough to align the bolt holes.  Ok here is the pic of the shock installed but not the reservoir , You can see it hanging out.  Since i was in the area i put on my new voltage regulator and a billet slip on oil cooler.  Next was the catch can setup i have had for months  Then a full wash of the bike to finish off. | ||

I have my catch can mounted there. The only thing is I've got a hose in place of the filter and it runs all the way to the back under the liscence plate. Too much splooey blew out of the filter making for too much cleaning. | ||

That is good to know! This motor is a Screamer. I really think it is ugly but i had a long hose before, zip tied to the exhaust.it was exiting on the ground but, it was making a mess of my muffler and getting little drops of oil on my tire! | ||

where did you get that oil cooler??? looks like it just goes on the filter??? | ||

I think it came off his stock S3 muffler..LOL (see buell swag thread)  | ||

I got it off e-bay for cheap. It is just a slip on but looks good and so far it stayed on. | ||

"I think it came off his stock S3 muffler" You're thinking of the one I've got handing on my wall on the stock X1 muffler (same as S3 muffler) The slip on cooler does work great. Mine never budged when I used it, and it did drop oil temps a little. Good looking bike prey - I've got the same catch can mounted in the same place and it does throw a little splooge mist back down the right side of the engine if it doesn't get emptied very regularly. Running an extra length of hose out of the top of the can before mounting the breather filter would probably prevent the mess, but I haven't tried it yet. | ||

I cut some plastic kitchen pot scrubber up and fed it into the catch can, to help separate the mist, then I put a straw through the top inlet and the breather is on the elbow. Forces the mix to go from the bottom of the container through the material before exiting the filter. Time will tell how well it works. That shock is gorgeous! My wife is laughing at me, she knows I'm jealous  |
