Eric If we truley will be spending most of Saturday south of the border, we might want to cancel our reservations in Creston. |

Are you crossing the border at Porthill or Eastport? I'm thinking I could meet you at the border. Given the typical group travel times, what time on Saturday would you suggest I be at the border in order to be there when you arrive? |

Oops. Busted by Jimmy. That would be most of Sunday and all day Monday that we'll be in the States. And the lady at Creston says that there have only been three people in cluding me book a room under the Border Raid banner there and they are now releasing the rooms that I had put a hold on. I assume that people were booking without telling them that it was Border Raid. Green Valley Motel, Vernon. Friday, Sept. 4 phone 250-541-0077 The Downtowner, Creston, Saturday, Sept.5 phone 250-428-2238 Center Lodge Motel, Sunday, Sept. 6 phone 509 633 2860 (Message edited by Sportyeric on August 17, 2009) |

Smart ass Jimmy says this (Posted on Friday, August 14, 2009 - 06:38 pm "Exact time of the crossing into the US on Saturday morning is a bit of a moving target." Maybe that's why I was confused. |

Update. We have 7 rooms that have been booked already at Vernon. Eight rooms at Creston and they are now releasing the other rooms they had been holding. And only three rooms booked so far in Grand Coulee. So somebody might be sleepin' in the ditch. |

Any chance you could provide a time frame for the Border crossing on Saturday like 0900hrs -1100hrs.... and where are you going to cross? Looking at the map, it appears you have two options if you are shooting for US 95. |

Due to a catastrophic event at work (may not be able to take the time in ID marketing as planned) there is an ever so slight chance that I may be able to swing this Raid on the Border event. Still not sure (see note about catastrophic event) because I'm not sure if I can get Friday off. My boss sucks! I'll keep you guys posted! Cheers! Ron |

Much as I would have loved to gatecrash another of your rides, unfortunately it's not going to work this time. Other commitments have taken over. I thank you again for your hospitality on SPLASH 11, and hope you all have an enjoyable and safe '09 Border Raid. Paul PS: The heavy bulky one piece I was packing on the SPLASH ride turned out to be a God send in the coastal fog along the Olympic peninsula It was a very relaxing three day saunter home along roads I've not traveled before. Hurricane Ridge was great - super pavement - 35mph speed limit |

Ron You have to make Border Raid. I need help decoding your Google Earth file. Paul Sorry to hear you can't crash (oops, don't use that term) another big ride. See you soon Jimmy |

As Jim has pointed out, we will be crossing into the States on Sunday, not Saturday. Unless anyone has a better idea, I see west out of Creston at 9:30am on Hwy 3, south on Hwy 6 to arrive at the border about 10:45. (Its only 60 miles but Mapquest gives it 1 hour 45 minutes.) South of the line, we will then be on WA31 towards Metaline. Mapquest does not provide a name for the crossing. Again subject to anyone with better ideas, I would think Kettle Falls would be about right for a lunch stop. |

WTF! Where the heck is this SouthernXCrossing gona take place? Do we have to reverse engineer the route using the inputs "WA31", and "Metaline" for our coordinates? Jimmy, you already know my personal limitations as to the Navgational Arts, so help a brother out? |

Holy Frijoles Batman! Looks like you'll be running through our neck of the wood this year. I'll have to keep my ear to the ground and maybe we can meet up in Metaline Falls or somewhere else along the way. Pete |

Hey Pete Long time no see. How have things been? You're right. This year it's a true Border Raid. Americans come north and Canadians go south. Would be great if you could hook up for a little asphault play. What is the border crossing due north of Spokane on WA31 called? Cheers Jimmy |

Jimmy, Things have been going swimmingly! A couple of weeks ago I flew down to Reno and picked up a '96 S2. I then rode it home, 1000 Miles in 24 hours. Should be enough to get me my Iron Butt certificate. I would love to get together to ride. How far south are you guys looking to come? I saw Grand Coulee mentioned. I looked it up and the crossing on 31 is at Metaline Falls. Beautiful country up there. I rode that route a few weeks ago with some buddies. The dam was used as a set for the movie The Postman. Looking forward to seeing you all. Pete |

Hey Galen, Guess we have the crossing now and the day. When do you want to leave? What day? From where? What time? I'm open, comes from being free and unemployed. You and Marcus are the only ones I know of right now that are committed to going and no doubt have a time line. So let me know what your thinking. Marcus and I have agreed that if we miss the bunch at the crossing, we are just going to fake it and have a great ride any way. |

Damn thing just ate my brilliant post! CAP, I would like to meet the F.O.G.G. as they enter the good ole US of A. This would require a Saturday lift-off for us. Perchance we could stay in the former King of Medaline's Palace, the Dustey Snifter I belive it is called now. Also I understand that in Medaline Falls dwells a fish found nowhere else in the world. A relative of the Amazonian Candiru, it has the same propensity for causing trouble amoung the local inhabitants as it's southern relative. Bring your rubbers if yer goin' swimmin'. Wadaya think of the possibilities? A mostly hiway drone, or the road less travelled? sooner, |

Now we still hafta figure out faze #1, from west to east, but from Spokane take 2N (past country home, colbert) to junktion with 211N (toward usk), grab 20N and sputter up into Metaline. Now the hard part is no gas in Metaline. No food in Metaline. No nothing in Metaline. More to follow... |

Now it turns out there is food and lodging in Ione. It is a virtual Megalopolis burning in the sun of the East. Famed for its' 12th century ruins, artifacts are still being sifted from the drifting sands, and camels are endemic. Watch for them to be crossing the roads in large herds... They are preyd upon by some as-yet unknown carnivore compared to the Super-Cobra, relative of the Shelby-Cobra... |

Galen, I'm all for the road less traveled, and I believe Marcus will be as well. I could even leave Friday afternoon if you wanted to. I'll have to confirm the Friday thing with Marcus. Where do you want to meet? Marcus lives in Seattle above Ballard and I'll be coming off the ferry in Seattle. |

Galen, Couple of nice little diners in Metaline Falls. The is the occasional gas station as well. Rode up to Marie's for brunch a couple of weeks ago. Good old fashioned comfort food and very biker friendly. Give me a shout when you hit Spokompton. 509-244-1817. Pete |

OK Lower Mainland Raiders: What time are we meeting on Friday AM? Does everyone want to meet at the Starbucks just South of Hwy #1 on 200th Street? I think that would probably be the most convenient if we are just going to jump back on to Hwy#1 to head east. Harv |
