That's some big hail! I had a hail storm follow me home once, rode in that sucker for an hour, I was cold for two weeks after! Pea- sized, though, and mixed with COLD rain, the cold was more painful than the hail, I've never seen any big hail here in CA. That big stuff SCARY! Glad you made it through OK... |

I am surprised no one has said it yet... "That'll buff right out..." On another note I just read an article about the crazy hail at Sturgis. I guess it took out a lot of bikes, and event areas. http://www.Motorcycle-USA.com/546/4290/Motorcycle- Article/Hail-Storm-Pummels-Sturgis-Friday-Night.as px |

I agree hail sucks. I was on my second deployment (now on third and final) and I was in a porta-john when it started hailing only at first I did not think it was hail. needless to say I was glad i was on the crapper because I thought I was being shot at. |

Ha! This just reminded me of something I meant to post. It fits in here sorta, so scuse me. The whole fambly was riding in the truck out to a park on the lake. It was such a lovely day, I was really wishing we could have ridden the bikes. We were just riding along, minding our on business when WHAMMMM!!! Glass everywhere, mild panic in the truck. And the windshield was shattered with a hole mostly through it. We were driving right in between two golf courses. Finally realized we had been stuck by a hail sized golfball.

Here are pix of the hail we got at the house we rented outside of Sturgis. Bear in mind that they were taken about 2 hours after the storm and so had been melting. Also a picture of me and the Road Pig somewhere in Iowa or Ohio, whichever.

So is that totaled Dave? I see an '03 F150 at less than that, only 143K miles on it... |

Yep, totaled. Just figuring out if I am going to let them pay me and take the truck or buy it back and fix it? They are actually being pretty fair about it. Of course, I am going to go for the "bump" and try to get a little more out of them. We are only about 300.00 apart. Lord knows I have paid more than my share of ins premiums over the last 30 years and this is my first claim. I'll know more today. |

Thursday morning I go pick up the replacement. 2001 Expedition XLT, Black of course. 115,000 miles Got it bought right, it helps to know people and that they know that you know the business. Giving up my leather interior, I hate cloth but I guess it will have to do. At least it is grey and not the calf shit tan they also put in black trucks. It will need tires since it has car tires on it but that should be it. |

Dave.... Find out where they brought your old truck. Maybe you could buy or swap the parts you'd like (seats, tires, etc). It's not difficult or time consuming to do these things. Just a thought.... |

Spent most of the afternoon today turning the Expedition into more of a "Dave" vehicle! It had the gross chrome mirrors and grill. God, I hate chrome. Well, no more. I painted the mirrors gloss black and did the grill and headlight trim in flat black. Also crawled underneath and painted the frame and rear end pumpkin. Much better now. It is amazing what 9.00 worth of spray paint can do! Only got 1 run on the grill, not bad. |
