In May I was heading towards Utah on my Uly and got into a serious wreck, totaling the bike in the process. My brother/business partner bought my Road Glide from me and told me to get one of HD’s new trikes.
Monday I went to the doctor because of a little ear pain. I told him that I normally wouldn’t bother him as I suspect it would go away in a week but I was heading out on a trip and didn’t want to be bothered by the pain.
He asks where I’m going and I say Utah & Colorado.
Dr: Wow, that sounds like fun. Are you taking an RV?
Me: No, I’m going on a motorcycle.
Dr: What kind?
Me: For this trip, a Harley Davidson.
Dr: Oh yeah? Which model?
Me: (too embarrassed to admit I’m riding a tricycle) It’s a, ahem, it’s a Road Glide.
Then I proceed to tell him that this trip is a continuation of one started a few months ago that ended badly. We discuss the advantages ATGATT. and he relates some stories about his time in the ER.
When I’m about to leave he turns to me and says “You should think about getting a trike.”
WTF!?! Apparently the lack of faith in my ability to successfully pilot a two-wheeled vehicle is now pretty much universal. I’m replacing the Uly this winter and then I’ll show them (or die trying).
If you have to go TRIKE do it backwards on BRP Spyder. 990 Rotax motor like the 1125 and tons of power. It has the fun - grin factor like a Buell. Oh and the who makes it comments, small dealer network and Crazy stupid engineering. Think if it as a Canadian Buell.
