Okay, so someone has to have done this by now.....if so, let us all know how the process went. |

A swingarm, front/ rear pulleys, I don't know about the belt. High $ item is the swingarm. |

What's involved to get your speedo correct? CR ECM flash or putting a CR cluster on the bike?? |

Relax Pizza...i don't care what you do with your bike...I don't remember anyone actually doing the swap, that's why I posted this. Besides, it would be archived now anyway. I know the parts involved, however I am wondering about the results and specifically if there is a way to have the speedo/GI read correctly without a speedo healer, etc. (Message edited by fresnobuell on August 08, 2009) |

wouldn't a chain conversion be cheaper and you have the choice of whatever gearing you want. |

i think pizzaboy is referring to when a couple of badwebbers switched the fairings on a cr and an r, which in my opinion would be far easier and cheaper, compared to the swingarm bs lol... Jake |

wouldn't a chain conversion be cheaper and you have the choice of whatever gearing you want. It's not cheaper and I love the belt. I don't race so having multiple gearing options is not crucial. I've had the urge off and on to do the CR gearing swap and usually a thread here brings up the idea again. However the two things that have stopped me thusfar--the speedo issue and the fact that I would have to paint the swingarm. Neither is impossible to overcome, but it's held me back nonetheless. |

Fres - you would need a minumum of the CR flash. The cluster does nothing but spit out the data the ECM is feeding it. However, if the speedo algorythms are hard coded in the ECM, you may need an ECM from a CR to do it. No concrete answers, just food for thought... |

Having owned both, unless you are going to use the bike on the track the R gearing is near perfect for the street. The CR is a little low for me. Would be awesome on a technical track. Ride safe, Frank |

It seems to me If someone just made an adjustable mount for the tension pulley you could go down a size on the front or up a size on the rear pulley and just re-adjust the belt tensioner. Or different sizes of tension pulleys could also work some. There's a product for somebody to make? We could also use some different size counter shaft pulleys and rear pulleys then you could adjust all you want. Screw the chain. this would be cool. The speedo thing is a whole nother issue, but even changing gearing with a chain you would have that same problem. |

There's much more to it than that. The rear pulley is HUGE on the CR compared to the R. There isn't enough slack to accommodate just the pulley change. They had to change the whole swing arm in order to keep the geometry (and belt length) the same. A longer belt would more than likely create other problems (slop, flex, heat, stretch, etc.). It's not an easy fix, but it's not the most expensive. I think I remember the swing arm being $862. |

If you know where to shop, the all the required parts can be had for $600-$700. |

I don't think an adjustable tensioner would work. The belt tension needs to be fairly precise. You would need a way to check the belt tension. Too loose/tight would reduce belt life, shear teeth, etc. |

It makes me wonder, why didn't they do something similar to the XB9 and 12 with the primary chain/sprocket being different? Less costs involved, no worries about the speedo. I know it uses gears instead of a chain, they couldn't change the gears? |

I would do it the cheap way...buy the R and just use a lower gear. LOL! |

Chad, Chad, Chad, that's just too easy and too cheap! It can't be any good if you can't throw $'s at it and make a change (for better or worse) LOL We could get back to that spring loaded pulley that's offered over the pond. That will cure all, including a fat wallet! I'd better shut up before someone takes me seriously. |

Yeah...but I seldom ride around in first gear, and the R I rode had more than enough grunt to pull the front wheel up in 1st. How much more do ya need? Shooting for that double back flip when the light turns green? LOL! |

Which is cheaper the chain conversion or getting hold of the CR parts I wonder, anyone able to cost it out and post the results please? |

K0003.1ATYCX SWINGARM, PHANTOM METALLIC, W/LABEL Retail Price:$424.00 G0500.1ATA BELT, DRIVE Retail Price:$175.00 G0400.1ATB DRIVE SPROCKET Retail Price:$140.00 G0603.1ATZT BRACKET, IDLER PULLEY Retail Price:$39.50 I believe that is everything. $778.50, using a badweb discount from Liberty or Precision it would be $700.65 before shipping. The chain conversion swingarm alone is more than that. |

I actually liked the R gearing better. It is easier to modulate the throttle, but the CR gearing is more "peppy" feeling. Would be much better for second gear wheelies. |

thanks for the costings, must say I am quite happy with the 1125R gear ratios, I can always change down a gear if actually needed. |

I like the R's gearing. There is plenty of grunt to pull her. Oh yeah, Belt tension is not all that hard to check. |

The problem isn't that the belt will be too loose. The problem is that the belt will be too tight. You can only "adjust" the belt tensioner so much. |

Belt tension is only part of the equation - belt geometry is just as imporant. I put these together a while back - might enlighten some...

Any chance you could put them on the same scale? With one going to 180 and the other going to 200 it looks like the CR has a higher top speed at first glance. I like the charts though, shows the difference quite nicely. It just looks way too expensive and involved to swap. ac |

haha- run first gear all the way up, then skip-shift to sixth and pour on more! |
