Yes, I got the first crushed Blast furniture joke today,Yay! (sarcasm)
But I guess the advertising works because until now he only thought Buell made singles and he asked me about all the twins (but he assumed all Buells were fast, like mine).
Considering he rides an old Panhead that he's owned for 25+ years and the only bike he owns, I'd say he's not in Buells demographic for sales.

PS Has anybody heard where in the future we'll be able to get parts for the Blast? Buell dealers? Harley dealers? Only HD/Buell dealers that do riders edge?
Sorry, I dont know if this has been posted elsewhere. I got tired of reading all the crap that was being posted on the other threads |

Blasts where born to piss people off - a whole troop should show with a banner that says - "Please don't Cube me!" - you can fly it on the uly.s and S bikes as well - lol

Uly's will be next to be cubed. They aren't a real sport bike. "...racing and sportbikes have always been important at Buell, they are now officially the only thing that matters."
And now that the Blast is no longer a Buell I guess the Uly really is their bestseller. They cubed the bestseller before, why not do it again?
I would be nervous about buying an XB9 as well. I believe the XB9 is the only Buell or HD that uses the 984cc motor now. I just don't think they will sell enough XB9's to justify keeping that motor around. |

Well, hello everyone. Long-time lurker here. Figured I'd weigh in on this, being that I just came from a tour of Buell in East Troy.
The Blast is still being produced. I saw it with my own eyes. There were several of them on the line, actually.
The rumor mill is buzzing out of control on this thing. That is the point. The new ad campaign is aggressive and designed to foment viral advertising activity. It's working quite well, as evidenced by everyone's opinions on all the Buell message boards.
Erik Buell wasn't available when I was there, but there is a post at ADVrider forums with an e-mail to one of the members from Erik.
The Blast is still being produced, it's just not going to be marketed publicly. I saw the new Blast graphics and there are no Buell logos on it, just a spiffy looking new "Blast" graphic. The engineer who gave the tour told me the Blasts are still being sold to the public.
It's just a new direction in marketing. I hope that helps people who have any worries.

I just read your post in Blastphemy, now that is a nice post! It really touched me. I still can't believe it.... and I don't want to dwell on it.... it just pisses me off!
I have an idea though.... do ya think we could get a group of investors together to purchase the tooling and rights for the blast? We could be investors/employees. Make the things ourselves. Think of what we could do with this bike if folks who loved it like we do were behind it's perpetuation. ... Trap door, better head, 6th gear, 17 inch wheels. We could make this everything we hoped it could be. I think I'd make two or three models, the blast (unchanged) for purists and RE, A chopper model maybe also for RE, and a top of the line bike that would make EZ proud! I always thought that the blast would be an excellent candidate to be used in spec racing. Do they have a spec race for motorcycle racers?
Ok I have to go change my undies now... When I read about and saw "La Tuna Chuppa-Cabra" I rofled so bad I think I peed myself. |

I know what my wifes expression was when I bought the third Blast home. I'm not exactly sure how I could explain that I bought the whole dam factory!

It's the "New" EH company. The one that the Hanlon's bankrupted TWICE!

A spec race is where all cars (or motorcycles) are the same. Think
IROC, for years the IROC (International race of Champions) used
Camaros (Hence Iroc Z). All cars were built Identical and wired so no
one could tamper or adjust anything. In later years they used Dodge
Daytonas. (And set track records by the way... I got lots of mileage
rubbing that fact into the noses of my bowtie buddies). Carol Shelby
builds some spec cars for some race series. The idea of spec racing is
that it takes money out of the equation. If all cars are equal, the
drivers have to rely on their talent and luck.

What 'we' race would be close to a 'spec race'. It is supposed to be stock Blasts with anything available for that specific bike is okay to use. The idea was a 'stock' class with a level playing field cheap to run. It is cheap to run/race a Blast. However lack of enthusiasm has almost killed it and out of maybe a dozen people who've run the class it seems few are ready to race at the same time Of course being racers, everybody wants a fast bike and in the field of 4 Blasts racing last Sunday: We had a tuberBlast, XBlast, stock framed Blast with 17" wheels & an XB front end and extended swingarm, and one 'stock' Blast (mine). There isnt much sense protesting because the class is so small it would split it up into nothing.
FWIW: There were 4 times as many Blasts racing Sunday as there were 'real' Buells racing. ANYBODY listening in TROY?

Cycle World gave Buell a world of shit for that campaign - lol - I notice that they haven't followed up on the campaign either. Perhaps a salvage campaign is being set up - lol
