Went for a ride yesterday and made it home to find out the entire bike is covered in oil! I'm trying to figure out what makes the oil tank pressurize and blow the oil tube out? |

You are most likely over filling the oil tank. Oil check is with the bike upright and after the oil is hot, half way between the hi-low marks maximum. I myself don't add any unless it's not reading on the stick. |

May be the clamps got loose and the hose came off. That would be pretty obvious though. |

I've got a buddy that says my rings may be shot, cause i'm getting a lot of blowby out of the crankcase breathers. Everyone else i've talked to says its common on a buell? |

start with compression and leak down test that will tell you what is going on |

I don't think the "blow-by" from the breathers would cover the entire bike with oil. At least that would be a first... |

Where was it covered? I have had it it blow out the primary tube on to my rear tire, fender, etc. After consulting with the experts "this website", it was because it was overfilled. The books says 1 qt (32 oz). Owners recommend no more than 28 oz. Ive kept it between 24 and 28 oz, no problem, |

2 quarts in the engine and 1 in the primary and never had a problem. YET. (M2 Cyclone) |

To check the oil level you need to start the bike and let it idle for a couple of seconds first. This will get all the oil out of the dry sump that has bled past the check ball and give you a better idea of the true oil level. This is on an XB. Not sure about yours if you are still on an X1. Another possibility is blocked breathers then the oil will push out past the side of the breathers and run down the side of the pots. (Message edited by Bombardier on August 19, 2009) |

I had the same thing happen. I always have a little oil venting from the breathers on the heads, but the other day the whole under side of my tail section was covered. It was coming from the breather on the left side crankcase. It has never done that before. Should I be worried |

I have had this happen once. At least this is what I think happened. Float needle went bad and a bunch of gas drained into the engine cases over the course of a few days. Started it up and blew a bunch of gas into the primary. Primary blew a bunch of oil/gas mixture out the primary tube all over the ground. Changed the primary and engine oil and of course rebuilt the carb. Got lucky the main seal did not get wrecked. Any way it has not happened again. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. |
