I think kit B would fit the micron since the catalyst header curves up higher like the micron. Just a thought. |

PeteBueller, thanks for the lead. I have asked them to send me a pic of the one for the micron. The one pic they have on their website is for the standard header. Also at $369.0 that is a substantial amount of cash.......I know I know you don't set prices...:-) Big-b, you might be correct, though not guaranty as that relieve in the scoop seams to be molded around the Buell header with cat. What are the odds that the micron is shaped close enough.....not with my luck, and $120 to find out is more than I can afford....why it can't be simple and affordable...... |

I got the 2010 XBS/R scoop today and installed it on my cg. The part number is M0854.7AA and it cost $6.25. Can't beat that price. (Message edited by wgnzlz on August 07, 2009) |

Twinv, I also have a Micron on my UlySS thing, I have been investigating it too. I will be buying several scoops, so I will let you know. |

Wgnzlz, can you tell us if you notice a reduction of heat and/or less fan run time? Froggy, awesome! Appreciate whatever I can learn. |

I just checked the price on the M0854.7AA scoop at chicagoharley.com and it looks like the price has been changed to $15.95. I was wondering how they were making any money selling it at $6.25. |

Twinv, I just put it on this evening and haven't had a chance to ride it yet (had to take the wife to diner). However, I can't remember the last time my fan turned on before I shut the bike off. (Message edited by wgnzlz on August 07, 2009) |

Looks like Buell changed the price, I checked it on Latus (board sponsor with great service unlike shitcago) and it said "List Price: $6.25 Price: $15.95" |

I apologize for posting that website, since they aren't a board sponsor. I've never bought anything from them, I just use their site to check prices. |

Smiley1eye, I'm not sure if it works, but for $6.25 I'm willing to try it. |

Bummer. Looks like I ordered the wrong scoop. I wanted the small XBS Scoop not the XBSX scoop. |

The current Buell RIDER COMFORT KIT and the ol' RSS are unrelated in both form and function. Their sole common item is general shape and location. One solves the problem, the other disguises it. |

Yet no one can tell us exactly what is going on with the xb12Scg Xb9sx or Xb12r only the "uly comfort kit". do the small frame buells only have a different scoop? or is there more going on? like the fan duct kit? |

>>>>Yet no one can tell us exactly what is going on with the xb12Scg Xb9sx or Xb12r only the "uly comfort kit". huh? What about the part numbers for all other bikes and the fitment kits that have been posted here. And .. yesterday when I was at the dealer there was a stack of Buell catalogs with everything from magnesium race wheels and Ohlins steering damped to childrens t-shirts that had a complete page on the RIDE COMFORT KIT. |

It is my understanding that the "rider kit" is for the uly. The uly got a different scoop and a fan duct along with a heat shield and a reflash for the ecm. I also notice that the Scg, Sx, and R all got a new scoop for 2010. I have seen the part number for the scoop, but was wondering if that was all? the small frame only got a scoop and no mod to the fan shroud? No remap for the ecm on the small frame? Those are the questions I have yet to see be answered. |

You need to talk to your BUELL DEALER. Here is stuff I picked up just while rummaging about the dealer yesterday. There were plenty of Buell catalogs and parts displays. For what it's worth your BUELL DEALER has at LEAST one case of these cataglogs sitting around.

PeteBueller, thanks for the lead. I have asked them to send me a pic of the one for the micron. The one pic they have on their website is for the standard header. Also at $369.0 that is a substantial amount of cash.......I know I know you don't set prices...:-) Hi Twinv. That $369 Australian is about $310 US. I think that you sent the request to my little shop. You could probably buy direct from Pegasus Customizing at a lower price because of the double international mail. I sent a rushed reply to your Email tonight. I'll send off some pictures tomorrow and put you in touch with PC to see what price they have them for. I was wondering if the catalyser version would fit. It would be good if it did. PC had one for the catalyser a long time before they brought out one for the Micron. I don't think they would have done all of the extra development if they could have made one for both sets of headers. The Micron headers are a lot wider than the stock headers, and I think that the Micron headers go further back before the curve reverses. The current Buell RIDER COMFORT KIT and the ol' RSS are unrelated in both form and function. Their sole common item is general shape and location. One solves the problem, the other disguises it. I'm guessing that you've not tried a RHS Court. Taking Paracetamol to treat a fever is maybe masking the fever, but it is also treating it. In the case of the Uly, the high guard seems to be creating a problem. Friends who have done low guard conversions on Ulys also notice the fan comes on less. A friend has an XB9S and bought a Uly to add to his collection. The first thing he noticed was that the fan was on almost all the way to work which is basically highway all the way. He called to ask if this is normal. I suggested he try a RSS, which he fitted a few months ago. He called me today and during the conversation he said that the fan doesn't go on the highway at all anymore and the frame stays cooler. This is what I have found and have heard from everyone I know who has one fitted. I have seen the test reports where no difference was measured in the temperature of the rear cylinder with or without a scoop. The thing that needs to be measured is how often the fan comes on and how long it runs for after the bike has stopped. The difference is huge. I don't see why it is a topic that arouses such controversy. Some say it works and they have one. Others say I don't need it so they don't have one. I guess what I find confusing are those who don't have one who feel the need to tell those who do that they can't possibly work. |

I'm a little confused. Looks like the XT and XP bikes got a "comfort kit" which looks like the aftermarket RSSs. The S/Scg bikes got a right side cover designed to cover the new O2 sensor and looks like crap compared to the aftermarket RSSs. Will they "comfort kit" (at least the RSS part) designed for the XT/XP bikes fit on the S/Scg bikes? |

The catalog page shown above is for the different Uly models. Does a factory "comfort kit" exist for the firebolt and lightning models? |

Froggy, That is what I thought, but then the info above was posted in response to the question if a kit existed for the other bikes. Since I am easily confused I had to ask specifically. So in summary, there is a new right side scoop for the lightning & firebolts but not a full "Riders Comfort Kit". Or am I still confused and there is no scoop for the lightning and firebolts either? |

As you can see above there is a scoop, just not a kit. It appears that you can just order the pieces (inner and outer scoop, header shroud, fasteners) and then install it that way. The Uly's got a kit because it is more complex, with new underseat tray, fan ducts and other goodies. |

There is definately a new scoop for the firebolts and lightnings... the million dollar question that I have yet to see the answer to is if there is anything going on under the seat differently like the fan shrouds, or if there is an ecm reflash like the uly, or if it is just a scoop only. I was told to go ask my local dealer... I will have to wait til the 10's are here and go pull the seat myself as my dealer is clueless. |

While it's good that they've finally done something... Why the hell didn't Buell match the looks of the right to the old left? Or make the old left look like the new right side..(or does it)? That's just weird..! Mike |

Its a case of function over form. If you want one that looks like the left, get that super expensive fiberglass or carbon ones that are available aftermarket. The Buell scoop solves the problem, not covers it up. Buell has been doing a lot with fluid dynamics lately, and it shows, especially in the new front brake rotor. |

Function over form.... That's a funny one...! IF...if is "form over function"...was the left side designed wrong? I just love some of these great answers.. Mike |

>>>>Why the hell didn't Buell match the looks of the right to the old left? It was made to work right, not look symmetrical. Far . . . make that FAR, different things are happening on the left and right sides of the bikes. I hark back to the good old days of the X1 when "research" was a video camera, an open side door on a Dodge Caravan and lots of knitting yarn taped all over the bike. That was fun but it was NOT the "good ol' days". I'll be putting a 1,000 miles on mine the next couple days . . .eager to see how it works. "Function over form" is 100% accurate. By the was . . . . I see you are a test engineer and not far from where all the acoustic dynamics testing was conducted for over a year for the HVPS Buell pioneered. Talk about true function (worked fabulously) over form (looked terrible) example! |
