I'm wondering who out there has increased their rev limit for an '06 or '07 using ECMSpy. What have you run without problems for soft-lo, hard-hi, etc? How did you figure out what was a safe increase to use? |

The limit is there for a reason. |

+1 Froggy. If you haven't upgraded to better componentry (i.e. roller rockers, beehive springs, lighter valves, lightened rotating assembly parts, upgraded bearings...), *don't* up the rev limit. If you do....you've been cautioned. You *might* be OK. Or...stuff may exit the engine other than exhaust gasses. |

I think it is a oil problem. The stock oil pump can't keep up with the rev's anlong with the other parts mentioned above. I've bumped mine up to a higher limit but I rarely hit it, I'm no racer, so I put it back to stock. |

When the "new" 12 engine came out in 2004, Buell said the rev limit was based on the durability of the roller bearing in the big end of the connecting rods (crank pin). They said they went to the two stage "soft"/"hard" rev limiter to allow the engine to rev as high as possible without compromising the durability. The 08's increased the size of the crankpin and roller bearing assembly, and added the new cam-driven, higher capacity oil pump developed for the XBRR. They also changed the piston design. The combination of these elements allowed the red line to be raised slightly higher. The XBRR had a LOT of radical changes to get the high (8500?) RPM limits they had, including shorter stroke, massively reworked crank, all the things Ratbuell mentions above, ultra light weight composite push rods, etc. I think Buell's given you all the RPM you can safely use. |

I believe the race ecm on my '06 Uly has a higher rpm limit. |

Aeholton, Could you check it with ECMSpy sometime and tell me the values? Thanks |

I know the tuber race ECMs had a raised limit...but I think the XB boxes have the stock limits, just recurved fueling and spark. I think. |
