Will the cylinder heads from a 2003 Buell Firebolt XB9R work on a Buell 2000 X1 1200? I have exhaust studs that are bad on the 2000 x1 |

They would give even better performance. However, the swap would require a change of pistons and the purchase of a different front hanger (that's the part which attaches to the front head that holds up the engine.) |

Yup, what Eric said. You would need a different front motor mount (NRHS makes one that is sold through American Sport Bike, just make sure you tell Al that you will be using XB heads on a Tuber). You would need to change pistons to the XB style. Same thing that Eric said. =) I'm doing it on mine, the only thing I haven't thought of until now was the read cylinders head temp sensor..I need to figure that out. If you have a 15* squish band cut in the heads, you can use the stock pistons. The 15* squish is more efficient anyway. |

and does it also require different length push rods? |

you can use the stock length rods. If you go the route of having the heads worked over and decked.... then shorter rods are a requirement. |

Get heads for an 04-up XL 1200. They're the same heads and require no drilling/tapping. |

Wow thanks for all the help! Seems like a bigger job than I want to to tackel. Any one know where I can get a set of replacement heads for a 2000 X1? |

please clarify problem relating to the studs on the exhaust, that is a fairly common breakage and is fixable. |

One broken stud in rear cylinder. Not touched yet. The Broken stud in the front cylinder was broken and repaired by a local shop using a heli coil. The Heli coil pulled out leaving a larger than stock hole. I have no problem pulling the heads for repair. Can this be fixed. How expensive will it be? |

Contact Cycle rama ( a sponsor ) they can do the repairs and return the heads fairly quickly Or Call them and speak to Pam about usage / mods to the heads for use on that engine |
