I was on my way home on a x-country trip, actually on the way to East Troy, when my Uly stumbled and died along I90 in the middle of Minnesota. I'd resigned to trucking the bike home when dealers within 60 miles of me were reluctant to touch the bike. So I rented a big white truck and the Uly and I were driving home to WV. I did stop by the factory and fortunately, Donna was kind enough to steer me to Hal's and 2.5 hours later (and with a new throttle body) I got to drop off the rent-o-truck and finish the journey on the Uly! Got to meet Tim, Dean and Bud over at Hal's...great guys....thanks!! The trip wound up being 6700 miles on the bike and 348 in the white truck. Got to meet a bunch of great people along the way not to mention the guys (and gals) at Ukiah HD (when I thought I lost a bearing) and Grand Junction, Co (for an oil change). Seeing America on the Uly ... priceless! Donna, thank you! Tim and Dean Bud pics from the trip if anyone is curious http://s718.photobucket.com/albums/ww189/cheekiedu ckie/big%20trip%2009/?albumview=slideshow&directio n=reverse (Message edited by sekalilgai on August 03, 2009) |

What really impresses me is when a non-brand dealer will do work. When we were coming back from Newfoundland and one of us needed a new tire 2 HD dealers (one a Buell also) blew us off. The local BMW/Suziki dealer gave us prompt attention. We found the same two weeks ago in Colorado when a BMW needed a tire and the Kawi shop in Grand Junction helped us right away. |

If you get a chance, drop Donna a note. She is truly one of Buell's unsung heroes. Her story, you may have noticed that she got a sly mention in the book, is one of the amazing stories of Buell. She is simply an incredible person. She'd love it if you dropped her a note: Donna Lakin Buell Motorcycle Company 2799 Buell Drive East Troy, WI 53120 Court P.S. - better not mention that I suggested it . . . I am ALWAYS in hot water with her and Kimmy! (Message edited by court on August 04, 2009) |

I didn"t realise that was Hal"s. I stopped in there on a rode trip with my son, met a real life buell guy selling Buells! He didn't point at a sportster when I looked at the 1125. Can't remember his name but saved his card. |

Hals has great shop, they were willing to let a crazy nut like me rent a bike from them, even knowing the way I ride.... unfortunately the SNOW shut me down. Now I have that Seasame Street song stuck in my head. Rubber Ducky, you're the one, Rubber Ducky gonna have some fun.... |

Next time any of you are in there, make sure to ask Bud when you get up to the rental counter... "Can I get fries with that?" He just LOVES that! In all seriousness, the guys at Hals are awesome! Bud's a great asset to Hals, and Dean Hagman and Dan Bilansky are probably two of the best Buell techs there are. They are also some pretty seriously fast individuals! Bud Dean

Also be sure to ask Budc about the electrical gremlin he had blackhawk farms during last year's homecoming It was easily solved.... Bud, the team at Hal's, everyone at the factory and even the locals like Steve_Mackay are top notch in my book. Some of the best hospitality I've seen north of the Mason-Dixon |
