How are you guys making out now-a-days?

I took a long trip last week and averaged 39mpg with not too much interstate and a fair amount of hard throttling through some twisties.

My best tank while just cruising on some realitively straight and level blacktop was around 46mpg.

Normally I find my gas mileage is in the low 30's.

BTW - AFVs are at 110.5 for both cylinders.

I average no less than 37 with hard riding, 42-43 with cruising in the slab at 70+ but it goes up the slower I ride. I've seen the instant mpg hit 64-66 mpg doing 60 mph on flat ground and stay there for a few miles. Drafting helps too, but I hate following large vehicles.

39 overall seems about right. During my commute on the Interstate 75-80 MPH in 6th the instant usually reads 47 to 50 MPG. I put 192 miles on a tank of mixed Interstate and back roads ending at my house, rolled it out of the garage the next day to go get gas and it wouldn't start. Added about a 1/2 gallon from the gas can and she started right up. I guess I know about what drop dead range is now. :-)

The longest I've traveled with the fuel light on is 12 miles; I haven't dared go any further yet.

I am averaging 33MPG on daily commute in heavy N. VA stop and go traffic. I did a 1170 mile (round trip) ride earlier this year, I was getting 70MPG out and 72MPG back, tried to maintain 71MPH. That is the best I have every seen, usually highway I am in the mid to high 60's.

I have gone 27miles with the low fuel light on, in the flats.

My daily commute has averaged 6.7L/100km, which is 35 mpg; since new (not reset). That's consistent with refilling with 17L every 2 return trips of 130km each, which is about 160 miles until the light comes on (which is now unpredictable).

I get 35. Pretty much no matter what. I cruise 75-80 on the highway. Backroads are done in 3rd and 4th gear.

are you using the OSB tune? if so I believe these values require a 5 point difference to maintain correct fueling to the front/rear cylinders. If you are not using that tune ignore this.

I am seeing mid 30's usually.

Mr - stock ECM. I was surprised at both how high the numbers were and the fact that they matched, but at this point, the bike knows better than I do.

I spend a lot of time in the lower revs, which is the generally accepted 'lean area' of the bike, so perhaps that's why my AFVs have moved up so much?

hm not sure, just trying to watch out for my fellow 25'rs : )

If the ECM adapted to that I am sure its fine... o2 sensors generally don't lie.

Xl, just curious-did afv's remain the same after the new pipe? I remember mine "learning" much higher afvs after installing my pipe. After a subsequent reflash at the dealer, it never did "learn"

My ECM has always said AVG=39, for almost all of the 20.5k miles.

Currently -
Drummer, K&N, inner airbox ON
AFV 98 F&R locked, WOT enrichment 110%,timing retarded 10% below 2200 rpm, +10% above 3500.

I'm VERY happy.

Bott - I haven't ridden more than 20 miles on the new pipe, so I can't comment. As of yet, they are still at 110.5.

Zac,
What method of tuning are you using to set those timing curves?

I'm a little upset if mine goes above 33. It means I'm not riding hard enough!
