Just wondering, I like the idea of a "sleeper" Thumper. Anyone turbo charge the Blast? |

You would think someone would - with a little gasket work to bring that compression down to 9 from 9.2 - you could comfortably run between 8 to 9 PSI, custom exhaust systems don't come any easier than a single, with a good waste gate, intercooler? - I just don't have the time or money to put that together, yet if a kit came out, I'd probably scrounge up the cash - lol - how hard can it be on a single - though a supercharger type turbo would be better to deal with lag issues - an Aereo-charger? Forgot the name - originally designed by Paxton. EZ |

Ironically, I have been tossing the idea around in my head since before I bought mine. From the research I've been doing, the easiest to do would be to mount the carb on the intake side of the turbo (Draw through style) and pressurize the air/fuel mixture before cramming it into the combustion chamber. The downside to this is that it is by no means as efficient as a blow-through carb system, and that you loose the carb's natural tendency to cool the intake charge, similar to an inter-cooler (Good for many reasons, less parts, more room, less weight.) That said, if I come across a small turbo for not too much $, I'm definitely gonna try it, and probably end up trying both installation styles. Cash flow and parts (both new, and to replace those that blow up are the deciding factors... as they say, "Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?" |
