I have a solar panel i added to my bike and its working out great so far. But i really want a more permanent fix. Would increasing the size of the battery help? I know there isn't much room for a larger battery but a mod would be no problem.

What are all the parts of the charging system? I don't really know that much about motorcycles i just like to ride. Is there upgrades i can get like a more powerful stator or something that will fit?

I was avionics in the Marines so i have a good handle on electronics and troubleshooting. But a wiring diagram would help.

You need one of the latest two free flashes from your dealership. It fixes all problems; I let my bike sit for months on end without a battery tender and it still fired right up last winter.

There were a few early bikes that DID have some stator problems, but again, your bike is still under warranty, so if the new ECM flashes don't fix your problem, they can repair any faulty parts,.... You don't need a solar panel on your bike; that's a joke!

I have the latest flash and it did fix the surging problem at lower RPMs.

If i dont put my bike on the charger for a few days it starts idling rough and then dies. I do allot of long rides and i cant bring my charger with me so i have the solar panel. Its the only thing keeping my bike on the road when im 1k miles from home.

If i put my bike on the charger it runs awesome. But that only lasts a few days. When riding i keep my RPMs between 4and 5k and thats not keeping the bike charged.
I have taken my bike in to be looked at and i was given a new battery. Didn't fix the problem.

there is a fix for some early build bikes, they have a faulty instrument cluster which causes an intermittant and hard to diagnose battery drain.

I believe it is called tech tip # 396, and details the build dates and instrument cluster numbers covered for the fix.

My bike had this trouble, before the fix I could not run my heated grips and high beams at the same time without drawing more than the charging system could keep up with, and it would often not start after sitting overnight, and yet it sat for 2 weeks once and started right up.

After the new instrument cluster, I can run the grips, my heated vest and the high beams all at once as long as I like, and it is no problem, plus it starts every time now.

The service guy had a hard time finding the tech tip on HD net, though, he finally had to use the advanced search function on the HD computer, and then he found it.

Bigblock has it right about the IC could be draining the battery have that looked into. A bigger battery is not an option as a fix for many reasons. That has been discussed in great detail during late 07' and 08'.
