I just ran into these goodies that might be helpful for M/C Sat Radio installs:   I have one each ordered from http://www.myradiostore.com/ . I'll have Sat Radio next week on the 1125rt, YAHOOO! I get so tired of the 500 songs on my MP3 player ;+} (Just remember I ride 3+ hours a day on my commute, besides I like to keep in touch with the outside world in case it comes to an end and someone forgets to send me the e-mail LOL) Later | ||

I have XM radio through my Zumo 550 GPS and love it. only issue I have with it is the poor reception in some of the canyons.... they gotta put up more satellites IMHO | ||

I have the Zumo 550 as well. Since I had the Roady XT first, and did not want to spend another $190 for the XM on the Zumo or the additional subscription, I just move the Roady XT b/t bikes and truck w/o any hassle. | ||

I just listen to pandora.com on my Iphone. Commercial free radio, and its free. | ||

I already have the XM subscription(s). It is sooo nice to have some choices, 6-8 Rock, 6-8 CW, news, comedy, and sports channels. Variety is good. Pandora seems pretty good but IIRC the offerings are a little limited and if you have areas of poor reception (like I do), you are SOL. Time2Ride. | ||

Ok why two radios? The Starmate tucked under the windshield stays dry in the rain. When the Stiletto 2 dock gets wet it stops working. The Stiletto 2 also plays recorded content and mp3s. Sometimes the SL2 is in the home dock recording and if I want to go on a short ride the Starmate is always mounted on the bike. The Starmate is using a homemade mount, the Stiletto is using the car dock and a ram mount coming off the clutch master cylinder. I also have a XMP3 portable radio with the car dock and can switch it out where the Stiletto is mounted in about a min. The XMP3 and Stiletto 2 uses the same antenna and power plug | ||

iphone is nice if you have service all along your route, which I don't :+{. I have a headset from my Starcom 1 intercom off my ST1300 in my helmet. I am running my audio: XM radio, Zumo/ MP3 and Passport 8500 X50 through an AmpliRider. It will take 3 inputs, amps my inputs and enables a system volume control. Time2Ride Neil S. | ||

Good Grief Brother... do you ride that 1125r, or do you start rolling and engage the autopilot?? You must have some open roads; I am stuck in the SUX of N.VA traffic where trying to use a glass cockpit like that would equal certain death. I can barely check my mirrors here, can never look at the cluster. I am envious of the open ribbons you must roll down. | ||

Chris, you one funny guy. You just have to set your priorities when you are riding. #1) Know what's going on all around you before doing anything else. #2) Know your road conditions before you do anything else. #3) Make sure you know where your threats are and how to avoid them w/o having an accident. This all takes a few seconds and then you can spend a second or two on something else and then start over at #1. My 140 mile round trip commute per day is all 2 lane TN back roads. I still have to make sure that nothing has a priority over my situational awareness. Between the 1125rt and the ST1300 I have over 110,000 miles in the last 5 years and it has worked for me. Like everyday of riding you have to watch you a$$ and make sure that you have it covered because no one else will. After all of that, I enjoy some mild background entertainment. When I am pushing hard it's easy to tune out all that and focus on the task at hand. I grew up in the big city and know what it's like in traffic and it is a requirement to focus on that task at hand. Any time you want, I'll show you around these great roads here in TN w/o the hassles of the big city traffic. Time to get the bugs off from the ride today. | ||

Chris: THanks, I was just down in the garage playing with mounting the Roady XT. It seems like it will mount real well on a 3" RAM arm of the right M/C mount. It will clear the fairing and windshield and does not contact my tank bag. Barring any electrical noise, it should be an easy install. We will see, my goodies arrive tomorrow. Time2Sleep Neil S. I just did a preliminary install of the XM Sat radio. I need to tidy up some wires and the voltage converter mounting but.... it works fine. Here are two picts:   This arrangement allows a good view of the IC. I still need to remount the Passport for better view of the IC lights, maybe this weekend. Later | ||

Hey they couldn't catch me in the mid 70's when I was running 500 watts on my 750 Ducati and 23 er 25 er well it was more channels than what was allowed at the time. We had the FCC in Wichita many times since there were some other people that could not play nice on/ off the air. Besides 500 watts I had a 102" steel whip on my luggage rack which would hit parking signs when I cornered. Back to today, they still gotta catch me, I have had "conversations" with various LEO's when they saw my ST set up and I'm sure this one will get some looks too ;+}. Later |
