Yea take the assembly off. Three Torx 27 screws, one under the beak, and the other two are inside the fairing. Take off the flyscreen and you will see them, on the left and right sides facing out. There is a small hole in the side of the fairing brackets to insert the socket. After that it should just pretty much fall out. Remove rubber grommet to access the bulb |

Is it a different access process than the low-beam bulb? If not, I was able to pop the rubber connector out and replace the low-beam bulb without removing the headlight assembly. It was annoying, especially with big hands, but I was able to get it in there and replace the wire stays using the end of a screwdriver. It took a number of tries and foul words. |

Just drop the headlight assy. It's no big deal and it will make the job much, much easier.Take a Sharpie marker and mark the endplates so you can put it back together with the same aiming. I always remove the lower bolt from the triple tree instead of from the light housing, then your vertical aim does not get changed. If you have the Kisan Pathblazer recommended for the Uly, I recommend hardwiring it into the uly wiring instead of using the adapter. the adapter doesn't fit in the light housing worth a darn. |

I remove the front fender so the aim stays the same. Are we saying the same thing? |

XT has a real fender instead of the beak, so it uses the L bracket to hold the bottom of the headlight. Same access for low and high, but removing the assembly is easier than fighting the bulb with it on. |

Got it. Hmmmm, maybe I'll put a fender on my X instead of the worthless beak! |
