I sincerely hope Bruce Rossmeyer didn't suffer and that his family can cope. These news bits are hard to read. I don't know about the whole "doing something he loved" thing. I hope (always hope) that when I read/hear something like this that the victim didn't see it coming... that it was a merciful ending... but having been scared spitless on more than a few occasions in racing, flying, scuba diving, I can't imagine EVER thinking "hey, this is cool, I'm gonna DIE doing something I really love" |

Like I said on the quick board, truly tragic. RMR and Danny Eslick need to go out and get the championship for he and his family. RIP Bruce. |

big thanx to Bruce for stepping up a few years ago & creating, along with Richie, the basis for this year's successful Moto-GT & Daytona SportBike teams say what you will about that mongo Daytona dealership - Bruce & Shelley started writing race team checks WAY before their current level of success resulted here's hoping that their businesses' sucession plans include the race teams RIP rider |

Peter (Redbuelljunkie) sent me a well-worded PM taking me to task for my initial statement about Rossmeyer's final moments. Though un-asked, I though it merited a response. My statement above WAS harsh and DOES appear insensitive. My only defense is it's just that I've witnessed too many of these types of incidents where we've lost good people and the sentiment always seems to be the same... I do suppose some of us (myself - in a way) lash out - almost in anger because it has happened AGAIN and I suppose it makes me feel all the more vulnerable. ... and yes indeed, FAR BETTER to go doing something that you truly love than just whithering away. True enough Peter, so true. |

What a tragedy, but what a life. Bruce Rossmeyer was a major player in the vehicle business (I think he had several of the biggest Harley-Davidson dealerships in the country), but much more was a guy who put his heart and soul into Buell racing when few would. His legacy will continue to grow with the following and family he has. |

I am so saddened that he did not get to savor the success of his racing passion - seeing the RMR Geico Rossmeyer team take the championship this year, which I have no doubt they will. I hope that his family, friends and acquaintances are comforted by the memory of his legacy and his monumental achievements will overshadow the bitterness of the loss Bruce, you did good! |

This is the loss of a legend. Over the years I've met dealers who are . . . well "just" dealers. But the most amazing folks are the ones like Bruce who were so much more. Bruce went beyond being a dealer and was one of those special folks who influenced and changed the sport, industry and business for the better. I did not know him personally but know folks like him and they are truly a gift to all of us. Bruce's presence was felt in so many places in the industry and his community. He made a life's pursuit of giving back. My deepest sympathy and prayers are with his family and friends. Court |

That is a sad news. The good thing from what I see is that he leaves some very good memories of him with people. I have never met this good man, but from all that I have read about him sounds like a true American. I hope his family continues the support for racing and his believes. |
