Anyone think about removing the rear view mirror and converting the outer most running lights into indicators?? Then can get better aftermarket mirrors.... |

Yes, it's been done --- I think by zac4mac. He also replaced the headlights with HID's for better conspicuity. Try searching. The results were pretty good. |

I've done exactly that to my 1125R. Installed $5 amber bulbs and spliced the wires to the L/R signal wires. Works perfectly. I got rid of those useless stock mirrors completely. Mounted bar-end mirrors on both left and right bars. Works FAR better and they act as bar-end wieghts which quell the hand numbing vibes. I highly recommend this simple, cheap modification. |

Yup, I tossed mine early last year. Firebolt mirrors work great. I didn't even change the running bulb, just spliced the wires to them and called it good. See profile pic. Z |

That modification is DANGEROUS! forces the rider to take his eyes off the road, in order to check the status of his/her inner elbows. My stock mirrors allow me to monitor my inner elbows and upper arms with a quick glance into the mirror, without being distracted by objects BEHIND the bike. WHAT the hell are you guys THINKING?!?!

Just depends on how much you like your elbows! Anyway, with the addition of a relay for each side they could still be "running" lights and perform the turn signal function too. Later Neil S. |

There must be some unwritten rule somewhere that if you sell a sportbike, you MUST equip it with totally useless mirrors. It's not just Buell. Somewhere there is an engineer who believes sportbike riders wear wife beater tops and no leather jacket, and enjoy admiring their arm tats in their rearview mirrors while out for a squidly ride. I can't think of anything else that makes sense. |

I prefer the bar end mirror for checking out what is behind me. My Signals have also been moved inside the headlight assembly. Takes very little effort and looks way clean! |

Tim I finally took your "mad cat" look to heart. I couldn't stand those mirrors anymore . I was just waiting for the right signals to come along. I don't like giving J-Law any more of a reason to pull me or write me up than I have to or have someone say they didn't see my signal.

Jacob, they are made by Hotbodies Racing. They are the smoke lenses but I don't remember for which model. I wanted the longer GSXR mirror block off ones but I realized I'd have to re-drill the fairing stay and changed my mind. Cycle Gear carries them and they are designed to be a flush mount for some jap model. The led's are so bright that even in full sunlight and being smoked they are easily visible, way better than some of the other crap brands I've tried. Retail @ $40 but worth it. |

Keep it in the Family. I like that. Hiya DB! Glad I got to meet you last year. Z edit - What I find amusing, is that I put Firebolt mirrors on my 1125R. (Message edited by zac4mac on August 06, 2009) |

U got lucky ,I found the package and it says they're for Honda's--HO4RR-SIG-SMK. They came with splicer clips but I wanted something more permanent and waterproof so I soldered and shrink wrapped them. |

Profile pic is fairly recent. Here's a shot of her next to some Italian contraption. It had 1" chicken strips and a mechanical slipper...

Darn, somebody stole his mirrors and turn signals!!! I guess the "racing" stripe makes up for it ;+} |
