I just got my 1125cr a month ago and i'm really disappointed about how you need to manhandle the brake lever in order for it to stop. I have had the brakes bled which helped a bit. I'm used to dual 4 piston brembos on my old ducati and they stop a lot better and with more feel. Is there anything i can do to sharpen up the brakes for my street riding? |

I would say there's something wrong with your brakes if it takes a lot of effort to stop...I can pretty much bring the back wheel off the ground with two fingers. Have you checked the rotor and pad surfaces to make sure all is as it should be? |

Well, what is it? Can you do it easily or do you have to manhandle the brake lever for it to stop? |

I had the same thoughts when I bought my 1125R that the inital bite of the front brake was not as good as other bikes I have ridden. I asked the dealer about it bled the brakes multiple times and no changes. The dealer talked to the guys in the Buell Race Shop and they recommended a I change the brake pads. Which I did to the Buell Racing pads as I only use my bike for track days. The front brake is AWESOME now....like a different brake system. Some others on this forum have talked about changes to EBC etc with good results. |

ahhha thats what i thought. It just seems there is less bite with the stock pads since the ZTL2 system is pretty potent. I dont wanna go with the race pads but which pads are the best for street? |

Agreed, maybe try the race pads...The bike has some of the best brakes of ANY bike I have ridden...... |

Ebc HH pads front and rear, huge difference in feel to me. Just a guess, but probably 25% more stopping power as soon as they are bedded in. 10-15 miles of dragging the brake lightly gets that accomplished. Lever feel is very good for the front, rear is so-so, but it's always been that way, regardless of how much it's been bled out or adjusted. It used to be worse, but it's better with the pads. I don't use the rear except for holding it in place at lights. |

EBC recommends 4-6 hard stops from ~50mph in a row to bed in the pads. Words of caution: Don't do it on the street, Watch for gravel/ sand, the rotor will be HOT!!!, The rotor will be blued (this will go away). After the quick stops, give 5-10 mins to cool down and you are good to go, and stop. |

For the STREET (NOT the track) I'd go with Lyndall Gold pads, which American Sport Bike sells on their website. Al Lighton will hook you up. For the TRACK, go with the EBC but since you've already stated you wanted the best for the street you want the Lyndall Golds. |

No complaints here... Mine's worked like throwing a 1000lb anchor out just touching the lever. Almost too sensitive. It took a while to get used to...all is well now. Just makes my R1's brakes feel really anemic now..! Mike |

Doe-no... What ever came as original in it. I do know my XB's brakes (six piston) aren't as good as the CR's. Much closer to my R1's feel. I just picked up a set of HH pads for the XB. Haven't put'em in yet. Mike |

I wonder if the new finned rotor kit would make a difference? Anyone heard anything on it yet? |

Honestly, I don't think the ZTL2 even compares to the Brembo's. Brembo's are the best of the best. Having said that, the ZTL2 is good enough for street bike use. My 2 cents! |

While we're disappointed not to see any new models, the 2010 Buell range does bring a host of important tweaks. Perhaps most importantly, all models receive revised brakes in the form of a new front master cylinder, but there's also LED rear lights and new turn signals across the range. We'll detail the changes model-by-model below. Buell 1125CR: The optional flat bars become standard, further differentiating the CR from the R. New graphics help reduce the visual weight of the huge side pods, while the new black and white color scheme really helps improve the looks. Like the R, there's also a new sight glass on the engine case for easier oil-level checks. There's also a battery tender plug integrated into the wiring harness. Buell 1125R: Polished stainless steel headers, that sight window, batter tender plug, black triple clamp and wheels. Yawn. More interesting is the $499 optional lower fairing that's shared with the controversial Buell 1125RR. } |

We'll Brembos are the best, even compared to all the others. Lyndals for the street Buell race pads for the track ( real pricey) EBC for doing both. I had problems with the new rotor I put on. It got hot and formed black small burnt rings from the high spots that formed when I used it at the track with the stock pads when it was new. Its starting to go away but its one fugly rotor. I have the EBC's now and It's improving but it still ain't great. Yeh,I know I could buy a new rotor ( just throw parts at it ) but I would have to change the hardware and stuff too. That would be my third rotor. Got about 500mi on it with the EBC's and It's starting smooth out. Don't use the stock pads at the track. |
