Any interest in Catia? Willing to relocate? (click) - company jobs You can do a search and restrict it to your state... so you might not have to relocate. Autodesk design stuff is pretty universal but Catia V4 and V5 are pretty standard around here... though can't say about the other divisions. I work in the Aeronautics sector and we're only in Palmdale, Fort Worth and Marietta (GA) - but do NOT apply for a position until I can check it out. SOME offers are tied to specific programs that are going to end when a contract is out - or some are just working for JERKS. At least I can check it out. PM with questions or shoot me an email at work: steve dott slaughter "at" LMCO (another dot) com (Message edited by slaughter on July 28, 2009) |

Hate that man. Is autodesk still the powerhouse it once was. I used to be a wizard with autocad 14. That was a lifetime ago and guess shows my age a little. Good luck. Wish I had some leads. I know a disproportionate number of people who are unemployed. Scares the crap out of me. Seems like cisco systems are the new 'in' thing. Any chance of expanding beyond your current skill set? |

Don't sweat it - they offer regular classes. Check the links. Unfortunately the ONLY division in Michigan is a medical operation and they do no design work there. PM me or email me directly at work. I'll do some legwork. I assume you wouldn't move to Palmdale, Fort Worth or Marietta - but there are options. |

I'm with ya, Spidey. I joined the ranks last week. I think I'm going to become self-employed. No more working for the whims of THE MAN. |

Hey Spidey, Damnut- sorry to hear the news, that sux billy goat balls. Good luck in your searches- remember, when one door closes, others will open. When I changed jobs back in March (granted, not the same situation as youns) I felt kinda like I HAD to- now, getting back to work I've done all my life, I'm much happier, much less stressed. Sure, now I've no health insurance, but I'll find a way to deal with that. Hope to hear good news from youns soon. Not to mention, keep filling that piggy bank for Buelltoberfest!! Chins up, eyes on the prize my friends!! |

I got laid off in April. Doing part-time hourly stuff from home now, looking for a long-term solution to never working for The Man again. I feel damn lucky to have the at-home work now, even if I'm making less money, damn lucky. |

It happened to me back in March. Found another gig, but it only pays 20% of what I was making, when it pays at all. Consulting, here I come! rt |

The worst thing about me getting the ax is going to another company, starting at the bottom and losing 1/3 of my current pay. I just hope I can get something quick as I am the only breadwinner in my family. She got laid-off 2 years ago and went back to school to pursue her dream of being a teacher. She just completed her Associate's Degree and wants to go back for another 2 years. I just hope I can find something quick that pays decent so that she stay in school. |

My wife was laid off in March, one month after our first mortgage payment. Things are not looking good where I work. Anyone need an automotive journalist? --Sean |

Charlotte kinda/sorta got the ball rolling a little while ago - and maybe it's really a good idea that Badweb offer a jobs section. Heck, - it is just a logical expansion of RAN. |

Spidey, perhaps you could acquire the SW and freelance at home as a consultant. My former lead man/boss was let go by the major aerospace firm building the GPS satellite in SoCal and now works for an agency that supplies consultants/former employees on the same program. He can either work at home and VPN into the network in Colorado Springs or drive 40 miles to the SoCal company site. Myself, I was laid off last year from that program but, being that I was about to retire anyway, it didn't hurt too much. |

+1 on the job board. One thing that those of that are out of work might look into is local government programs for training. Part of the stimulus package is supposed to be set aside for training unemployed workers to bring their skill set more current. I went to a meeting last night were I found out Arizona got something to the tune of $50 mill for just this. About $8 mill is set aside to teach people how to join the new green collar work force. For those of you in the construction trades looking into training for green building would serve well to make you more marketable in today's economy. IE electricians learning about installation of power distribution lines for solar power. Good luck to those of you looking for work, I hope it gets better. |

Spidey...the bright side is that if you move to Marietta(I am assuming Ga), you will be so much closer to me..Ha Ha. Truly sorry about your luck. RT...I thought you were independently wealthy. Thanks for bursting THAT bubble for me. I agree on the job page. Couldn't hurt. |

Man oh man, you can't do anything original can ya? Sorry 'bout that Spidey. But now you have no excuse not to try the Great South East. Take Slaughter's advise, I assume you wouldn't move to Palmdale, Fort Worth or Marietta - but there are options. Marietta baby! Yeah come on! I've been struggling for over a year now. If I can make it, anyone can! |

Spidey, I'm right with you, man. I'm on my 3rd week of unemployment. It sucks, kinda. But I put 4000 miles on my bike. Don't worry, you'll find something. There's still plenty of work for those that want to work. |

Spidey That sucks about the termination, but maybe you can take the time now and put that pink thong from MBV to work. Just remember nickles are cold. Seriously good luck with the job search. Georgia will get you closer to the twisties |
