I recently got a 20% off coupon from HD (new owners party) and was considering using it on the HD washing series; sunwash/scratch remover/gloss/glaze cleaning regiment plus wheel/tire/sidewall cleaner, bug remover and any other needed product. No, I don't want to polish chrome for hours, but I do want my new bike to look new as long as possible, especially with all the dirt blowing around here.

For those of you that clean your bikes in excess of doing 80 in the rain; have you ever used the HD lineup (or parts thereof), and if not, what regiment do you use (in part or full) and to what effect?

Thanks in advance,

~Chris

Chris I haven't used any of the HD stuff save the Novus scratch stuff. It seems to work pretty good on the windscreen and my visor.

Don't let anyone give you gruff about taking the time out to clean your bike. At homecoming the comment was made about mine not possibly having 6000 miles on it and looking that good still. A lot of that is attributed because I do polish/shine up the headers to a very nice sheen with elbow grease and 3M Metal Polish. However, I do ride the piss out of my bike and it does get filthy. I just try to wash it real good and keep it looking nice because I am OCD about my toys and I am proud to own it.

I have heard good things about the S100 or whatever it's called. But the Harley gloss and all that I haven't tried even though I do have some free samples of it to use. I guess I could try that. I will talk to my neighbor and see how he likes that stuff for ya. He uses that stuff on his Glide and I see him out every so often cleaning away. Hope this helps a little. Surely someone here has some experience with it.

Just started using the Harley Gloss on mine. Had some service done on it,when it came out it looked as good if not better than the day I bought it. HAD to ask what they 'wiped it down' with, and they said Harley Gloss.

+1 for sure on this stuff!

I got a comp little starter kit when I got my bike, and it all seems to be good stuff. The quick shine stuff worked really well. Don't really do the shiny thing with my bike very often, but the products seem to be O.K.

BIG fan of HONDA Cleaner & Polish- was reformulated & still OK. It is also Branded by numerous other labels. BUG SPLAT is nice. Found GOOP quite useful to clean exhaust stained rear rim after 3k road trip. Elbow grease, clean cotton rags. Microfibre towels with distilled water is also good for light cleaning. To make bugs come off easier I wet an old sheet, cover front of vehicle & let set a bit. Loosens em' up nicely.

So for actual scratches - I set a cardboard box on the tank for a couple of blocks - is Novus the consensus? I have a full set of Meguiar's paint clean/polish/wax products, that's what I'd use on a normal paint job with high confidence; but do we really need to use something else on these plastics? Most of the search references to "polish" are really either about real gouges, or about just waxing.
