Here the dilema: Where do i find the instructions or manuals on how to perform basic tasks ( plugs for example ) ? As I am used to from my car related pages like www.s14motorsport.de ... Mostly better illustrated and more effective as the factory manual... Also does anybody have or know about something like the BMW ETK & TIS CD - a CD Rom that has all part numbers, explosion drawings and PRICES (dealer and or retail) and even history of all BMW models.... (BTW i brought one with me from germany in case we have BMW drivers here....) I need something like that for the buell! Where can I find prices for the stuff ? parts catalog I got from ebay, manual is ordered. on s14.de we have a couple of guys that work for BMW and we can just post part numbers there and they will not only get us prices, but also order that stuff for us at dealer cost *hush don´t tell* Let me know where I can get that info. That's funny. last time I took my bike in for service the dealer didn't put my seat back on right. It was just sitting on top of the bike and wasn't latched down. I rode it off that way and didn't notice until I was home  | ||

Had the muffler problem the first time. Second time, they put the air intake scoop looking thing's bracket on up-side-down, which put it at a funny angle. | ||

Need Help!!! Never Trust the Low Fuel Light!!! I ran my 2000 X1 out of fuel today. On my way home from work, bike running fine then it started losing power and eventually died (no low fuel light), I checked side stand switch, batt conections, tried to start wouldn't start. then thought maybe blocked vent hose, nope. I checked fuel tank bone dry empty, (never trust the low fuel light). Called wife, she brought fuel, bike started but ran rough figured it was the AFV relearning. 10 miles later feels like down on power hesitating and missing. Back home service manual in hand, swapped out fuel filter, changed plugs (black and sooty) maybe fouled, checked batt voltage 12.85. I took a short test ride around the block and it is still running like Sh*t. Do I need to let the AFV relearn again? I need some help here, any thoughts and or advice will help. T/M, Nick | ||

Nick, What you experienced was the ECM thinking that the bike was running lean (no fuel, duh). It will hold that for awhile until it readjusts. You will have to ride it over about 2,500rpm (I can't remember the exact number) for about 5mi.and it will readjust itself. Mine has done that after it has sat around for a long time when it is cold and doesnt' start right away. I always think "man I don't remember this thing running so rough before." | ||

I will try tomorrow, but as Tim emailed me I am thinking if the ECM and AFV cannot figure it out that it is more than likely the TPS, and will more than likely (Say it isn't So)need to be rezeroed as a result of the fuel pump sucking air, "Big Lean condition". This would really Piss me Off!,since I am in Mississippi. Which means a two hundred mile round trip to the nearest Buell dealer. Damn the Scanalyzer, I can tear this bike down and put back together blind folded, but am held at the mercy of the mother company when it comes to this damn scanalyzer. I love my Buell X1 but when it comes to something so simple like this, it makes me want to dump it and buy a RC51 "no scanalyzer". I am sorry I am just venting while I contemplate how I am going to feel after my 38 mile round trip walk to work tomorrow, because there is no way to zero a TPS switch at home AAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! On a good note, I suppose since I will have to go to the stealership, I could pick a LOW FUEL LIGHT bulb. Oh wait I forgot the standard line. Sorry bro were going to have to order that. Giving a good reason to test out my rezeroed TPS. during another 200 mile round trip to pick up a mini light bulb. I suppose I could go on about the tech ordered the wrong part, but you can keep the turn signal bulb for free since you rode all this way, and we will call you in two to four weeks when we get the right bulb in. Hey maybe the RC51 uses the same Bulb. I still love my X1 (I have to tell myself that from time to time) Again T/M, Nick | ||

Take out bulb and go to your friendly,neighborhood auto parts store and get a couple--probably alot cheaper,too.Might want to check in knowledge vault as I seem to remember reading about this problem before. | ||

If you need a dependable, reliable bike, by the Honda. If you enjoy riding a unique, american made bike, keep your Buell. If you want the best of both worlds, buy both... You can also always buy an older carburated Buell. :o) | ||

permagrin. took the buell for a spin last night. 14F -10C. Glad I didnt loose any toes or fingers :-) But it was worth it. Drove it to the shop and tore it all apart first, new plugs, new handlebar, started to mod it and suit my needs and preferences, and on the way home .... damn this bike is the shit. People looked at me like I was nuts. I hope I can get rid of that damn grin before its lunch time! BOESE, OH | ||

Nick, Be patient, these bikes may seem to be a pain in the rear at times but after 3.5 years and 30,000mi. I still grab the Buell most days over the Blackbird. Your ECM problem is most likely self correcting as long as you get out on the road long enough to keep the rpms up for it to readjust. I'm lucky that I live in a small town so most rides have a fair amount of highway miles included. Almost all of the maintenance on these is much easier than other bikes (like having to take off some of the fairing just to change the oil). | ||

Nxtr- I seriously doubt that a low fuel / AFV event would result in the need to reset the TPS zero value in the ECM. That makes no sense. Patiently ride at steady freeway speeds and see what transpires. -Saro | ||

There was an incident with my 00' x1 a few months ago, rough idle, and so on. It took three techs. at harley to figure what the problem was. A cracked thottle body! The engine was trying to compensate for the confusion at the intake. Take a look at it. Its worth investigating, rather than having anything re-zeroed (at your expense!!) Its a very inexpensive part to replace if it turns out to be the case. But what ever you do leave the tps for a "last resort"! | ||

Update on X1, I rode it to work this morn, at start up, no check engine flashing, it came on went out and I started it, then the light came back on, and I turned it off. I did the same thing again only this time light stayed off. It ran rough for five miles stop an go to the highway. I then did the 5 miles 5th gear between 2500-3500 RPM to reset the AFV, and seems to be running much better. It still has some Vibration but that maybe from an unrelated item since I never upgraded my isolators to the new style, (hopefully that recall is still in effect). It is cold and raining Big Time right now, I have to suit up hit the Kaw shop for parts for the KX 100 I just picked up for the kids, (setting it up as a Flat Tracker.
