hey everyone,

i used to have a buell and after a crash (fatal for the bike, but not bad for me) i changed over to a sportster. i haven't really enjoyed the sportster the way i did the buell so i am looking to trade it in and get a buell again. previously i had a XB firebolt and i'm looking at a 2008 1125R. one minor concern that i had was my XB seemed to get extremely hot in stop and go traffic. i'm hoping that someone here that has had both an XB and a 1125R could chime in and give me a comparison on this.

also i'm interested in any other tid-bits anyone can share about things to look for. i'm aware of the recall/services (the dealer mentioned them and said that they will be taken care of. i'm just wondering if there are any other things that may need attention.

Don't know why you would want ANOTHER Buell????

Hey, I'm on my 5th one (1125r). #4 was a 12r, so I can give you a pretty good comparison. Both are great bikes. The 12r was a really top-of-the-line machine.... until the 1125r came along. THe 1125r (IMHO) is cooler (not a lot) than the 12r. Ergos are better, power is MUCH better, handling is better by about 25%.

Depending on your needs and wants, there are a world of goodies out there to make it "your ride".

I can say one thing for sure, if you test ride it, you WILL want to take it home!

Time2Ride (mine) home.

Had a Lightning before my CR, in traffic the CR is significantly cooler on the rider. Not cool, cooler.

Totally worth it. The 08's are a great deal now, and man are they a riot.

Welcome back!

man, maybe i need your bike. had a ton of xb's and never concidered them to get that hot that it REALLY bothered me. the 1125 on the other hand roasts some parts id rather not... it gets fn hot. not so bad since the last reflash it seems, but still plenty warm, although the temps around here havent been as high this year so far either.

that being said, i love my 1125r and my xb's

Norice, have you tried adding water wetter to your cooling system? That combined with the latest flash has kept me in the 180's for normal riding, mid 190's in stop and go but cools right back down once I get back in clean air at a decent speed.

hmm my xb seemed to get a lot hotter than my 1125r. the 1125 rarely seems to go above 190 for me now. however before the reflash it was absolutely horrible for heat.

I got stuck in traffic for 15 minutes at 10 mph this afternoon. The bike was so hot that I thought I was burning my pants and right boot. But as soon as I was moving again I remembered why I love the 1125r so much. The bike is a dream to ride, so dont let the slow moving heat stop you from purchasing a great bike.

I currently have both an XB12R and an 1125CR.

Both very different, both fun in their own way.

If I had to have just one...it'd be the 1125 hands down. Though I'd miss the XB..!

Ive had both, an 05 firebolt and 08 1125R. The temps are pretty much the same to me here in AZ where the summers hit 100-110 rather easily for weeks in a row. Its killer, but the difference is that with the 1125R youll be so happy with the improvements over the Firebolt that its easy to forgive the fact that your thighs are burning, especially once you can get *any* speed. The 25R is basically a firbolt with most of the improvements you wanted done to it, and then some.

I went for a ride the other day and it was near 90 degrees in WI. My temp never went over 185. Adding fuel and timing makes a BIG difference. In cooler weather, 70s or so, my temp stays in the low 170's to high 160's when I am moving.
