Why not Sprint? That's what the Aermacchi 350 was called. Those were actually pretty cool bikes. (Message edited by Hughlysses on July 27, 2009) |

Maybe they could go all Prince on us and just call it the "........" the motorcycle formerly known as the Buell Blast. Lol! |

"Yea but that doesn't mean he has control over it. I recall he thought the marketing of the TT was a joke. He said so." I was told EB had no say over this. He was along for the ride. I wish we could blame him, but it wasn't his "baby". |

You could make a sticker to put overtop the factory sticker like this: NOT A BUELL or FORMERLY KNOWN AS BUELL |

Possible. At the moment I'm working on getting the graphics right for the Coffee Table t-shirt. Making graphics to look good on BadWeB is infinitely easier than making them big enough, clean enough, good looking enough, the right colors for a graphic/t-shirt... |

What's kinda sad is that this is the busiest any Blast discussion has ever been - as far as I can remember anyway. I've felt really sorta squashed by Buell twice. Once was with regard to the synthetic oil deal - and when I heard Erik himself declare dino oil better for the roller bearings in the sportster mill. We all know where that one went. Now this somewhat impolite farewell to the Blast. I get that they're trying to be funny, make a statement, and bring in a more sporting demographic. (expect insurance rates to rise??) But it's sorta like making an off color joke at someone's funeral. Just doesn't seem so funny to a lotta people who give a 5h1t. I do agree though that the Blast as produced was a bad fit for Buell. Too plastic to be a Harley. Too low & slow to be a Buell. The Blast is what got me into riding. Nothing lasts forever I suppose. -Saro |

Good posting, Sarodude! The Blast was a great bike for me until I was seduced by the XB9S in late '02. So it was the perfect gateway drug. Now it appears us older guys who want lower and slower and lighter bikes are not part of the business plan. An updated Blast might well get me back in the pack. If no such thing will happen, I'll likely go with the Guzzi 750 V7 Classic or another Nevada. |

Ferris_von_bueller Posted on Sunday, July 26, 2009 - 07:58 am: -------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ A Blast is not a manufacturer. You can't get tags and registration for a Blast. Someone has to claim they made it, as a manufacturer, or you are not riding it, legally, in my state. Again, I ask the question, who the @&^$ is making the 2010 Blast??? I'd bet HD is listed as the mfg. Why not contact a dealer in your state and let us know? I have nothing important to add, just this funny tidbit. My 2008 Ulysses is registered as MAKE: HARLEY DAVIDSON, MODEL: BUELL. Things are so messed up in this country I didn't even bother trying to get it corrected. |

The nail head hit is simply this from Buell - there is nothing new, please don't notice - watch this side show BS instead - see us crush a motorcycle into a cube - now don't you feel better? - lol - lame ass advertising campaign. EZ |

Lol, its the same in the US too (I never had mine changed either). No respect for Buell from other mfg's and no respect for the Blast from Buell. It must suck to be butt end of the butt end of someone elses joke. |

Did EB really think he wouldn't get this kind of reaction - does he really think this hasn't hurt business? Is he that stupid? - I hope not, but you know what - after that advertising campaign, I wouldn't put money on it either way - there you go - some of that Ruthlessness coming back at him -htfu EB - your going to need it. Has any other motorcycle company pulled a stunt like that, alienating customers, and possible customers just to make a statement? How sad - he did. EZ |

How will "business be hurt" by this announcement? The highest selling sales guy on the board here has sold 29 over 5 years. Our numbers show VERY low sales. |

"How will "business be hurt" by this announcement?" They better sell alot of 1125r's to show that "flipping off" current customers was worth it. During this economic downturn, our CEO is preaching.."WE WILL NOT LOSE 1 CUSTOMER". I don't think Flickenger is on that same page with the way the Blast was dispatched. |

The Blast will be back in one form or another, it will be re-engineered and will truly be a "sport-bike" out of the box. Remember, 200 year plan, Ruthless Engineering and a segment of the market which is popular everywhere but here in the U.S where "BIGGER IS BETTER!" It would take some ruthless engineering to bring that to light, now wouldn't it? Yeah, I read the spin, but it's what is BETWEEN the lines that is putting a smile on my face. |

LOL - how many people on this Board started on a Blast - more than just a few, and the Blast riders - that would be another good percentage - seems to a lot of folk, including myself, that our potential as customers was kicked to the side in favor of future squids - all part of Ruthless Engineering philosophy - eh?
