The XR1200X: I think the all-black is a MAJOR improvement in the looks of the bike. This model is evidently coming to the US (it was included in the models that were CARB approved on that link I posted a couple of weeks ago) but so far, it only shows up on the HD Europe websites. It has upgraded rear shocks over the "standard" XR1200, but that's the only functional difference I see. Edit- a post on another forum mentions upgraded forks as well, different front disks, and slightly different gearing. (Message edited by Hughlysses on July 26, 2009) |

Nice, finally some good suspension components on a stock hd? Good job. Is this some sort of sign of the apocalypse? |

Europe only. So far, however this link shows it has already been certified for emissions in California: http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onroad/cert/hmc/2010/ harleydavidson_m0050158_1200_1d4_hn.pdf |

This thing has fully adjustable Showa big piston forks in addition to the upgraded rear shocks. I'm all over it if they bring it here. It appears that the suspension kit will be available in the US at least, even if the complete bike isn't (yet). $1500 US. |

It's 71 HP vs. 103HP on the XB - and 580lbs vs. our 475 lbs...(Uly) You'd miss the performance, big time. . |

The XR1200 is 90 HP according to the site. I believe the engine is pretty much an XB12, but it's somewhat restricted because of the airbox arrangement. |

ok so i went to the Uk site and spec wise the only differences is the suspension. and it is a little taller than the regular xr. seems to be a full 1000 (not sure how big of a price difference it will be in usd) pounds more than the regular xr also. |

+1 Johnboy This bike is little more than an updated version of the 1200S I had in the mid 90s. There was a huge difference between my 96 1200S and my 99 S3. This is down 13hp, up over 100lbs (or more depending on Buell model), and is far less centralized in mass. This bike will feel pretty lazy to anyone used to even my old S3. But it will be great for a Harley (even if an 10+ year old tuber Buell puts it to shame). I'd love to see the Sportster regain some of its old glory but they have a long way to go. |

In other words go save an old tuber Buell and a LOT of money. You'd be glad you did. |

The XR1200 goes really nicely. I really, really like the bike. It is heavy, slow and cumbersome compared to a Firebolt. A cruiser. |

All that black paint and they couldn't find a way to paint the back side of the gauges? Sweet looking bike, though. I could definitely see owning one. |

Dave, shhhhhhhh Harley thinks it's a sport bike. Let's keep them aimed in that direction shall we. Good suspension, brakes and power. Now if they could really work on weight loss. |

I'd like to ride one just to see what they're like. I've only ridden one other Sportster ('04 1200?) and found it very odd, very weird seat/peg/bar setup compared to other bikes. |

Good point. It is a very nice 'standard' bike. Am I close? |

Europe only right now, both front and rear suspension are now Buell-ish adjustable, among other changes. |

All that black paint and they couldn't find a way to paint the back side of the gauges? What?!?! You have to go slowly, chrome withdrawal isn't pretty... |

So does the XR1200CR have an actual Buell belt idler (and why would I want one instead of a Firebolt)? |

The cafe style XR definately grabs my attention much more than the stocker. If I was gonna pick a cruiser Id have to go with a blacked out nightster with black apes and D&D exhaust. I saw one at Pcola HD and it was absolutely wood-tastic. Just my opinion, though. |
