i am in need of a new tire. i have two questions. one is would it hurt to put a 190/55/17 verses using a 180/55/17 and what is the difference between the c-3 and the supersport that Pirelli makes. |

The 190 will change the profile to drop off at a sharper angle. Wouldn't recommend it myself. Dunno on the other, never looked into it before. Went with bridgestone bt-016's for replacement. Considerably cheaper, just as sticky. |

you'll prefer the handling characteristics of the tire size that was MEANT to be on the bike. 180's will turn faster. i went through 2 sets of corsa 3's, and now just depleted my first set of BT-106's. the BT106's are down right awesome tires and i highly recommend them!!! i have no idea how the supersports handle; my next set of tires will be some DOT race tires: the Bridgstone BT-003's. |

I currently run a 190/55 and have run a 190/50 in the past as well as the stock 180. Im no track wizard but for thrashing around town doing a bit of hooligan driving i really cant tell much difference. But the 190/55 seems like its the one that makes it the most nervous. Then again it REALLY is hard to tell the difference. The 190/50 looks the widest on the bike. And there are no clearance issues on either the 50 or the 55 |

+1 on Bridgestone bt-016's. I have done 3 track days so far with them and they still look great. |

I think for the money I am going to try the 003's. But my bike see's more of the track than the road. |

Guys, early reports are the the BT-003s are not as good as the BT-016s, unless you prefer to slide around alot. |

Wonder why the 003's would slide more since it's a track oriented tire? I haven't had any issues with the 016's yet and I have almost nothing left for a chicken strip now. Never did that with the diablo c3's. |

The testers were wondering the same thing from what I gathered. At least one of the current issues of the sport bike mags has a review, and I believe a last month I read one or two as well. |

I know I would like to try the 003's. For the money you can't beat Bridgestone. I feel my 016's are to me much better than the corsa III. The front as great grip. But I am a mid pack intermediate rider. I have been pushing my pace and the tires have never let me down. |

I like my corsa IIIs a lot, grip is great and I have zero chicken strip left on them. I have only rode them on the street so no track experience to speak of. I ride them hard and they have not let me down yet. Jimmy |

I liked the BT016 over the Corsa 111's for confidence but not mileage. |

A moderately aggressive rider can probably get 4,000 miles on the BT-016 rear. From personal experience with M-1, M-3, Corsa III and BT-016 (my last 4 tires) I get about 4,000 to the cords on all of 'em. (Message edited by fresnobuell on July 26, 2009) |

i'm at about 6500miles on my factory tires, my front one still apears to have many many miles left but my rear one is pretty deprived on tread down the middle. i think i'm going to stick with the c 3... mind you i know nothing about bike tires. lol they just havent let me down. |

It was HOT at Buttonwillow yesterday and the BT-016s were solid all day long. Minor slipping a handful of times using a handful of throttle, but no real surprises. During the last (and hottest)session, I purposely grabbed a ton of throttle leaned over exiting a haripin corner (just to see if it would stay hooked up) and it was business as usual. Great rubber. |

The Michelin 2CT that I put on the back has about 2800 on it now, probably will get to 3500, maybe 4000. By the time that ones done the stock front will be ready too. I really like the 2CT, and will probably try a matching set of em. Question: on my XB the tendency to stand up under braking... Is that in any way due to the profile of the tire? or is it the geometry? R |
