Don't they have kits for turning the 450 into a 650? EZ |

Probably. A 650 single would be really cool. So would a 550 twin: I know that the Blast has been popular to the devotees. Many have been convinced to give the Blast a try with good success. I think the new Blast could not only be a great word of mouth bike, but could draw a crowd on its own. I can't wait to have folks lined up for test rides. |

You see they keep updated copy of engines in production and all mc engines where listed vaguely on the front page which also mentioned a 650cc not currently shown on the list. I know they made 650cc motors for several companies in the past, but since it is mentioned as current it is odd there is no picture listing unless not released yet? Rotax is always a winning combination. EZ |

so now there is a face to that ad.... He should be very proud of himself I five bucks that says the a$$hat has never ridden a bike, much less heard of Buell before his latest assignment. Theres a field over the hill that I would like to drag him through for sake of 'art' Feel free to contact him here: chris.streger@gmail.com And of course his offices are just down the road in Oregon... I would think that a Rotax engine sourced for the new Blast would be modular giving the opportunity to be used in standard, sportbike, motard, and dirt orientations. If you could train your mechanics to service this modular engine, you'd only need them to learn one engine for several models. EZ, you know I have participated in most of the "how would you change the Blast" threads. I really believe a "super single" could create a HUGE market for Buell.

Their 650cc engines are considered bullet proof (in BMW and others), and their hp ratings have really improved over the years, aren't they around 70hp now. I see their 450 in stock is 50hp. EZ |

Could somebody e-mail a copy of that Blast ad to me? I think it's going to disappear in a few hours to be replaced by a completely different ad. An ad that will have all the Blast lovers very excited. I know nothing, but the clues are starting to add up. |

I've seen it posted a couple of places around the net (nothing official) that the website gets updated at 10 AM (I'd assume 10 AM EDT). I think that's pretty consistent with previous years. |

It would seem confusing to continue to use the Blast name seeing as the bike continues to be produced. |

Wow, i have not read thru this entire thread, and honestly i've never ridden a blast, but i finally just saw the "AD". All i can say is wow! Maybe it's just me, but it seems like it was meant as a slap in the face to all of us who have yet to run out and buy up the 1125! Why not just throw in that "Built from the Rider Down" was all bullshit too. I hope im taking it the wrong way, but i'm not impressed. |

I don't know why any of you think the new bike will be a beginner bike. Personally, I would be very surprised if the new bike has any relation what so ever to a "beginner" bike. I don't think Buell cares about this market segment. Without Harley and Riders Edge, the Blast would never have been built in the first place. The new bike might be in the 400-600 cc displacement range, but it won't be a "beginner" bike like the Blast was. It will have nothing in common with the blast, in design, or spirit. Just my humble prediction. With an ad like they came out with, if the new bike is even subtly similar to the Coffee Table, they would look like douche bags. Not that they don't already. I"m thinking it will be an 800 class water-cooled sportbike, cause "sportbikes are the only thing that matter." But I don't know shit. |

If the old Blast is still available as an HD model, why would a "beginner" bike not still be available? Why not a super single for those of us NOT wanting a beginner bike? |

So they "Crush" the bike in the ad, and then harley keeps selling them? I don't think so. I'll bet the production run is over regardless of the stickers on the tank. Super single would be good, maybe a super moto. I'd like one too, I just don't think that's what they will do. And even if they did, a tall supermoto is not a beginner bike. That's all I'm saying: The new bike will not be a beginner bike. And... I wouldn't be surprised if they come out with an 800 class water-cooled sportbike before they come out with a supermoto - especially since the whole dirt bike project was canceled. Or maybe it wasn't. What the hell do I know? |

That reminded me- somebody was obviously working on a new single cylinder engine last year. Screen caps from a teaser video July 2008: Closeup:

If the Blast's spot wasn't going to be replaced in the Buell model line, would they do something so public as the coffee table ad? Or would they quietly phase it out? So there must be something new as the "entry level Buell", but I agree it won't be a "beginner level Buell". A single or a small twin priced between the Blast and the CityX maybe? How long do we have to wait? |

Don't get me wrong, i want to see new bikes and successes for Buell, i just don't like the wording in the ad. "Racing is the only thing that matters" is a complete 180 from what Buell has always been. |

How many people have bought dirt bikes in the last two years since buell publicly canceled their dirt bike project. If they pull the curtain off now, after basically telling everyone, "Don't wait for this - its not coming," they will REALLY look like douche bags. LOL |

I'm telling you, they are gunning for the 848 with a smaller displacement version of the Helicon engine. And the 1125 will get a big boost in power for 2010 as well. That's what I think. |

That single on the screen could've been for the now cancelled dirt bike... Just playing devil's advocate ... I'd love Buell to bring out a hot single CR. "Racing is the only thing that matters" Did the ad say that? No. It didn't say "racing and race-replicas" either. It said "racing and sportbikes". How long has Buell had racing and contingency programs? Since the S1? Racing is a big part of Buell. And I still maintain the Uly and even an S3T is a "sportbike" compared to other brands, so I don't think it's a 180 at all. |
