For the recalls, your perception will vary with how much news you seek out. MCN lists everything in the motorcycle world, and it's pretty well spread around. Just looking through the last few issues, Kawasaki is having a rough year. For cars you have to read the small print in the middle of the paper to see all the japanese recalls. Anything from Detroit is on the front page. I think it was Toyota who blamed seatbelt latch failures on sloppy Americans getting them dirty. |

>>>Do you really want to compare recalls from Honda vs. American motorcycle and car companies? Actually, I have been tracking that sort of stuff for a long time. Buell, even in the "recall years", 1998-2002, has a stellar record. One thing that tends to skew folks, not properly aware of the details, are the actual numbers. For instance . . . someone might say "Buell 1125R's were recalled due to heat". While this is correct, it should properly read "140 (approx 4%) of the 3,316 2008 Buell 1125R's were recalled".
quote:Make: BUELL Model: 1125R Model Year: 2008 Manufacturer: BUELL MOTORCYCLE CO. Mfr's Report Date: OCT 16, 2008 NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 08V554000 N/A NHTSA Action Number: N/A Component: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING Potential Number of Units Affected: 140
Buell, in the presence of actual facts, fares very well. Yes, I'd be willing to compare Buell with any motorcycle manufactured anywhere in the world. Court P.S. - Outta here for the big day . . . see ya tomorrow!
