What if the ad is simply a precursor for the new "coffee table" to be released soon? Probably is, however, the add is in really poor taste. EZ |

EZ - I'm with you. For a company that I have had such admiration of, to treat us, its Blast customers, like this, it total BS. I hope someone at Buell puts eyes on this thread and does something about it. I don't care, what new bad ass Blast replacement is coming out, that add was totally insulting. |

Look at Buell's past ads. Have they ever had this "feel"? No. The attitude of the ad is totally wrong. Buell makes ads focused on the rider, and I don't believe they would ever put down their own bikes. No, I think Erik is way too smart for that. Heck if he wasn't such a smart guy I would have never bought a bike, sight unseen, without ever even sitting on one, while deployed, all because of his genius when it comes to what makes a motorcycle fun to ride! </rant> -Sam |

the add is in really poor taste. I agree. Were I a fan of the Blast, I would be offended as well. I think the copy could have been done better. "At Buell, we are always looking toward the future. To provide the best rider experience, our goal is to make the technologies of yesterday obsolete. In that vein, we'd like to introduce the 2010 Blast." |

Fat - You should work in Buell Marketing... The sad part of this is wondering how much of this is actually handled by HD, and not Buell. |

That is a pretty lousy ad - I hadn't seen it before. Not sure why they would decide to eat their own young - if sportbikes and racing is what Buell is all about, then they should have just run an ad about sportbikes and racing. |

The line: "And while racing and sportbikes have always been important at Buell, they are now officially the only thing that matters." if true will mark my departure from the buell fold. Except for all the used ones I'll continue to collect. I've got to believe this is a joke. What mag did it come in anyway? |

It came from the current electronic edition of Cycle World accessible on-line here: http://www.zinio.com/reader.jsp?issue=416090203&_r equestid=615009 Which raises a good question- maybe this is some sort of spoof and a different ad will appear in the print edition? Maybe there will be another ad on the back cover or someplace that explains/redirects/counters this one? These guys (CPB) are supposed to be damned savvy, and this doesn't show that so far. I've got to think we haven't seen the whole deal yet. |

I'm wondering if this isn't some kind of joke... only because there's some fairly poor grammar in the ad that I would imagine an ad firm would have corrected before release. Example: "And while racing and sportbikes have always been important at Buell, they are now officially the only thing that matters." Should be: "And while racing and sportbikes have always been important at Buell, they are now officially the only things that matter." Just sayin'. |

I believe they are next week. "they are now officially the only thing that matters" It doesn't seem to me, unless something radical has happened at BMC, that this statement is true. Buell has always emphasized great "street" bikes. So if racing is all that matters, are the future Buells going to track oriented first and street practical second? Again, this ad smacks of a singular focus, into the hearts of spec sheet racers. This ad doesn't appear to be meant for the consumption of current Buell customers (who up until this year really hadn't been Buell race consumers either). |

All I can say is I sure hope this is a spoof. I sure hope the digital version differs from the print version somehow. Because wow. If this is how Buell feels now I may feel for the first time a change in loyalty from a lot of people coming up. I guess only time will tell... also if you're having trouble with that link it's because there's an extra space, here's a fixed one: http://www.zinio.com/reader.jsp?issue=416090203&_r equestid=615009 -Sam |

I'm not a racer. I commute, I cruise, I hit the backroads and I tour. I'll wait and see. If the ad is bona fide, then my pride in the company may prove displaced and my desire to augment Thumper with an XT no longer a priority. Let the brands compete and the best price/features win out. My grandpa had a term for that, he used to say "Ya don't shit where ya eat." Even if that singular focus demographic was true, do you advertise that in Cycle World? Sure, CW usually has a crotchrocket-racer-bois slant but it's not a racing specific magazine. They have all kinds of bikes geared to all kinds of riders. Do you advertise one facet of your production while shitting on the others to such a diverse audience? Stupid. Even if this is some sorta spoof 'gotcha' ploy, its still stupid. I don't even own a blast yet. |

One day later I am still just as pizzed. Send me all the parts from your failed dirt bike, and your non crushed Blasts The New Baja will be rolling from photoshop to reality. If your going to F*cking crush them anyways, what do you care? Sumnabiatch This stinks of the same ill logic that the CPISC brought out about banning mini dirt bikes for kids because lil Timmy wants to eat them to get his daily supply of iron. Like I said, lets just eat babies, the new veal. F'n non ridin dumbazz MBA mutha ad photog sumnabiatches. Get in the Ring. |

If that is a real ad, it basically tells everyone who did NOT buy an "R" bike basically "Thanks for capital , now !" Don't mind change or cutting edge advertising firms either for that matter, but maybe just maybe someone should have proofread that one. Bye the way, that is my opinion of the ad and not of BMC.
