I dont like the asymmetrical look of the half lit headlights. Has anyone converted their headlights to doublo and high beams like some of the xb owners? Any will the alternator be able to recharge enough if i do this mod? |

If you look, it appears that the reflectors are angled different. And unlike the XB...you can't change the aim of the CR reflector separately. Mike |

I don't think you can aim them independently on the CR. You can turn the assembly down a bit, and just run w/the high beam on all the time. |

i just changed my HID bulb in my CR - had a "white" 6k bulb and wanted to stand out more as most people have those - so i got a "yellow" 3k bulb - looks pretty sick - i also put a red LED in the middle where the small bulb went - HIDs very easy to do on this bike (with the kit i bought) as for the high beam i kept it stock and only use it to flash - i like the half lit look of the housing the same place i bought my HID from offer LED H7 "bulbs" - more for looks than functionality - but cool |

07xb12ss Its the CR not a H8 bulb for the low beam? I imagine you went with a Slim Ballast? Where did you mounted it? Please Post pics if you can=) |

no its an H7, ill go through my pics and see if i have any - but right on top of the housing is a flat spot and it fits perfectly (yes slim ballast) - i just used double sided 3M tape there and it hasnt moved |

The area behind the flyscreen is totally empty save for some wires for the turn signals. I have a loom of wire for my GPS, an E-Z Pass, a couple loud boxes for the new turn signals and wiring for the heated grips in there already, and I'm confident I could install HID ballasts still. |

i also put a red LED in the middle where the small bulb went I wanted to do this, but decided not to when I discovered that light is on all the time, not just when the bike is in 'park' mode. |

Is the front 5w bulb just a wedge type Bulb? Or is it a specific type. I might just go for an LED. Heck might as well change all the other small bulbs to LED Specs from Buell's website.

Xl1200 - with my hid you can barely see the red LED, just a little accent, I don't think the LEOs would bother you for it if that's what you are worried about puredrive - I used a 194 wedge LED - don't get the "5 way" led because it doesn't go far enough into the housing for the side LEDs to really shine on the refelective part (I know because I bought this one also) I used the 1 watt 194 LED - got all my stuff from xenonrider.com - pm me with any questions, I'll try and upload pics tonight |

07xb12ss Is this about the right size for the 194 wedge LED? TIA

that looks about right - but the bulb sits so far in the socket that it doesnt go all the way through the housing - youll see what i mean if you put it in, it still shines, but that 1 watt head on LED was so much brighter |

Sweet. I placed an order for an HID kit along with an H7 Bulb. I'll tackle the install next week. Thanks for your help. |

no problem - just remember to wait until the ballast warms up before you start the bike - youll hear a buzzing (the ballast) for 10-15 seconds |

Sorry for the little bump, but this thread is the closest I could find in the search to what I'm looking for and I don't want to start a new one. Glad I read this little guy before I ordered ... I was going to order the wrong socket LED for the running lights. My question is what size in the rear brake light for the '09? I'm guessing it's a standard 1156 (single circuit) or 1157 (dual circuit) ... I want to replace it with an LED bulb. Should hold me off until I get an XBLights.com unit. Going to get all my lighting needs in-house then do a write-up of everything for my '09 CR (red 194 running light, 55W 6000K HIDs high and low beam from DDM, and a rear LED bulb from autolumination.com). I'm a technical writer by profession so you can expect the write-up to be top-notch (step-by-step with pictures) and in the Electronics section. I'll post up a reminder in the 1125 board when it's done, probably in late Feb. Thanks for the help. |
