Hey, I need a jacket for riding AND picking up the ladies at the bar. You know, a jacket that looks good on and off the bike. The main purpose is safety with style. I've tried on a lot a jackets and they all seem super short- what's the deal? No jackets for guys with long torsos? All black is prefered The one I found that fit perfect is a Screaming Eagle covered in HD badges. Not my cup-o-tea..... Any preferences on jackets? Leather or mesh? Pics or links would be awsome- thanks |

I have a long torso as well. The jacket fits fine. The one you tried must have been the first edition. A buddy of mine has it, it took forever for it to break in. Mine is the second edition, it was "tumbled" or something. Anyhow, mine's extra nice. Had to order it though, Vanson did an excellent job with the measurements. I have long arms was the reason I had one made for me.

My Knuckles drag the ground as well.. In my thinner days I had to go up 3 sizes to get the arm length on a store bought jacket. Glitch is on track, getting some something tailer made is the way to go.. House's Jacket... Vanson...

I had the same problem. Im 6'4" 220lbs Every jacket I tried on fit like a belly shirt. I decided that to get what I wanted, I would need to get it altered. I bought a 2X jacket and had them take in the torso. It cost $60 to have it altered, but I figured I just spent $450, what's another $60 to get it right. Here is a before on the Buell leather.
You can see from the front that there is too much material for someone of my size but at least its not a belly shirt.
I took 4 inches out of the torso and that really made the jacket fit nice.
The pictures dont do it justice, it looks very nice. I left a nice tip for the lady when I saw it. You cant even tell it was altered even if you knew where to look. |

Glitch - you have the Vanson BU59 - that's the long version made with softer leather and has hand pockets. There is another one, the BU53, that is shorter, made with stiffer leather, and has no hand pockets. I have the shorter one. Super great jacket. It did take a little bit to break in, but I think it was worth it just because the quality of Vanson. If you want a Vanson one like Glitch's and mine, it might be a little harder to find because Vanson lost the right to make Buell jackets at the beginning of the year. You can call them to see if they might still have one on the rack, as was the case with getting mine, or try to find it on Ebay. There was a guy on EBay that was selling some new ones for almost half price awhile back. Here's a couple I found with me wearing the jacket (Message edited by chadr81 on July 22, 2009) |

They either were scoping out the hot moms at the playground, or just got off the jungle gym themselves. For summer riding, I've gotten lots of compliments on my Castle Flash jacket (textile/mesh). They have some pretty sick looking black leather jackets, too. http://www.castlesales.com/html/productDetail.psp? catid=5&prodid=629&start_indx=7 |

Check out the new Alpinestars Nero line. They are some good looking jackets with removable armor so you could wear them when you're not riding also. http://www.alpinestarsnero.com/ This is what I have...not from the Nero line but I like it. Mine's black & white like the first pic.

http://pilotleathers.com/pricing.html Pilot leathers will make you a custom fit jacket for that price. I found them via shawn higbee sponsers page. I think that will be my next jacket... |

I have a Dainese Zen that I bought from Cyclegear on sale for $249 (new years day sale). It is the only off the rack jacket I really liked the fit of so I waited six months until the price got reasonable. A Vanson would be sweet but pricey. Another option is Langlitz in Portland for a custom made jacket. |

When I bought my bike the guy threw in a Vanson Buell jacket but it was too big for me. I sold it on Ebay for $100.00. That was before I knew on the BadWeb. |

That Icon is a good lookin jacket. I already have a leather so I'd like to get a mesh. I like the looks of the Buell mesh. |

I really like the icon. The cool thing about the harley bracket jacket is you can unzip the sleeves and chest and back in one zip to make it a mesh jacket. |

The jacket that House wears is a Vanson Model B. Good all around jacket, real heavy leather, last forever. They have a lighter model now. A bit pricey: around $600 depending on size. I got mine at a yard sale for about twenty five bucks. From the Vanson Catalog

That thing looks like it fits perfect!!! I do live in MN. We definately should ride sometime. August is a busy month for me however. Im on my family vacation for 12 days, 2 off road runs and a trip around lake superior on the Buell with some bagger friends. (Id invite others but Im actually an add on to someone elses ride.) Late AUG life clears up for me quite a bit though. Ill be in touch. The place I had it altered was the City Taylor in Woodbury MN (east metro). |

Badbueller, I also have the bracket jacket (didn't know that was the name) and love it. Sleeves off for a mesh , CE armor and a good rain liner as well. Don't think they make them anymore though. Bought mine 2 yrs ago in Manhatten, salesman said they were a ltd style. I do highly recommend though if you can find one. |

Chadr81- that guy in the middle of ur photo is wearing the exact screaming eagle jacket that I love- the fit that is, but I couldn't handle all the HD badging. Not, knocking on the jacket at all! It is still the one I look at every day contemplating........ As for the Vanson, wild prarie HD by my house has the short one. Now if I could only find the long in a medium.......damn! Rpm- that's cool, as I'm going to sturgis on the 29th of this month till the 11th of Aug. So let's try and hook up for a run late aug. Thanks for the tailor info- I hope I can find the jacket, now. Badbueller- I almost bought the icon daytona in black on black. It was just a little short. And the large was too big around, if I only had a tailor......oh wait, I do! Everyone else- thanks and keep it comming! |

I just called Vanson and they still have an XL hanging on the racks still. No mediums though. It was worth a shot. As for my buddy in the Screaming Eagle Jacket, he came from riding a Sportster and just keeps wearing the jacket. I do have to say, it is a really nice jacket. I would try the short one on at your local dealer and sit on your bike. I was real hesitant on trying the shorter one until I tried it on and sat on the bike. It was just meant to be. |

Look at a Revit "Ignition" jacket in person before you make your final decision, Great protection, fits great, looks good on and off the bike.................... |

That sucks that Its only in an XL, but I'll go try on the shorty version on my bike. Just another reason to go for a ride...... I looked at the revit ignition. Is it hybrid mesh/leather? Has anyone had a river road? I was looking at the river road alloy in Matte? |

Oh, I bought the yoshimura in small to tide me over. It is cheaper than a Harley shirt, so I figure if it doesn't fit I can give it to a chick! I am still on the serious hunt for a quality leather. Vanson is my top pick- finding it is the issue.... |

Jakecheez I had the river road hoodlum and it was ok. I wasn't terribly impressed with the quality or fit. Also it was quite thin and had no armor. |
