After some initial teething problems, I have been happy with the Buell race muffler. First, I broke a rear mount, but it was my fault for fabbing it out of aluminum instead of steel. Then I broke the front mount, but again I didn't have it fully tightened. Now I have been riding for several thousand miles without any additional problems. I change the packing material every few thousand miles. It's not too much of a hassle. Now if only the muffler sounded as good as the V&H that I have. |

I'm running the Pro-Series to but to what I understand the DnD muffler might give alittle more midrange grunt but I'm very satisfied with what I have none the less. |

i have been running the d&d for about 6 months now and love it. its chamber instead of glass packed so you don't have to repack it, not to mention that i gained bottom end and mid range hp and torque. oh and it sound GREAT. |

I apprecaite your responces... Explain chambered, please. Most all of these mufflers are just 'muffling' the noice by sound obsortion by using a straight through tube with perfersted holes in it, with packing. I'd like to know a bit more or a phone# to be able to call them. I have considered making my own, :-). I realize there is a tuning aspect to it all, but for top end power we're not looking for much restriction aft of the header... thanks Bruce |

Bruce, Call up Stainless Specialties in Florida and have them make you a pretty polished stainless one. Great warranty, great looks, great sound (if you really want obnoxious do like I did and get a 3' vs 2.5" outlet), ceramic packing so no repacking, all for $189 + bracket (I think $205 with shipping). Josh, Thanks, do you have a number for them? Any chance you might have a picture you could forward? Was the muffler a standard with a modified 3" outlet? again thanks... Bruce |

Bruce, they custom make all mufflers, mostly for hot rods. Give them the body length and diameter, inlet length and dia, and outlet length/curve(if any) and dia. I'll look for contact info but a search of the archives might turn it up. To late to go to the garage now, but an archive search might turn up a pic also. |

Josh, Do you have the info on what you had ordered, lengths, tube diameters, curve/length, braket location, etc. that you could forward me. Did you use the race header and what year is your bike? Any info for me to digest would be appreciated and again thanks. I'll try a search sincerely Bruce |

Bruce Links found via a BadWeb search: pics and discussion of price another pic and specs At one point I said "race muffler has a 2" inlet, the body is 13.5" long, and the diameter is about 4.4" (note that I believe it's slightly oval)" What bike are you putting it on? You might want to measure how long you need the body to be. From what I can tell, the difference in race mufflers thru the years is angle of the oval and length of the body. Stainless Specialties |

Josh, I have a 02 M2L(bought in Fall of 01 and now have 9,000 miles on it)lightening cams and (now wish I would have gone with race cams), race ignition(6,800rpm), Force air cleaner, and V&H muffler, now a race header and some muffler. I think I'm going to pull the heads and do some mild bowl area work this spring, maybe springs, titanium retainers, perhaps 1.7 roller rockers? Would like to make 100 rwh! Need to do some research into a carb, possibly the 44. We shall see, but for now a muffler with a bit of throat it where I'm headed. thanks Bruce |

The race header is longer, where does that move the power band? I keep seeing the race kit on ebay. Almost bought it , but not sure I want it. '01 M2L. |

I've also been thinking of buying a race kit for my 99 M2. Can anyone tell me how loud it is in relation to a stock header/Vance and Hines set up? |

It is a little louder, sounds more like an H-D, so not as cool as the V&H, but makes several more ponies. V&H for cool factor, race kit for power! |
