WAY cool dude!! I think that you have to be wrong about the 150 HP. I know that you are probably excited about your bike, as I am too, but 150? My boyfriends ninja 750 dosen't even put that much out, and it is watercooled asian made!! My Buell only puts out like 75 horsepower and makes a mess with all of the oil leakking out of it. Maybe you will get 90-95,hp, and if you really truly get more, I'll let you ride me!!

Seems to me like that cool machine could sell some bikes and t-shirts for Latus. That being said, I wonder why the 2 XB Buells in the showroom are in the far corners and buried 3 deep under used bikes. I also wonder why the only Buell merchandise to be had was 2 hats and why simple parts, such as brake pads, are not stocked for Buells that were purchased at Latus.

I'm sorry to be so cynical, but the pictures of that bike caused me to ride over to the Latus dealership and filled me with hope that a local dealer was going to step up with regard to Buell. Imagine how nice it would be for local Buell riders if just half of the time and money that went into that bike were put into serving customers, at a profit none the less, that are pretty much Latus's to lose.

Regardless of my negative attitude of Latus’s current status as a Buell dealership I wish you the best of luck in your race efforts, and I’m happy to see that you are no longer forced to ride a Ducati as a race bike.

O.K., here's some more info, rods are ti, as are the valves, it's a short(very)stroke, big(very)bore, 9000 rpm. The air/oil separator drains the carry over back to the swing arm. The triple clamps are adjustable, and there will be a heat shield on that rear pipe. The wheelbase can be up to 2" longer than stock, and we may beef up the swing arm some. Glad you guys like the pics, and sushi, do you have a dual throttle body?!

Looks like some one's gettin' a free ride

Stock displacement Buells can make 90-95 hp with a bit of modification.

Sushi, that figure is totally believeable. It's not uncommon for stock stroke 88" Buells to make 120-130hp reliably.

I've heard of some XB's leaking oil from the swingarm fittings...I'm sure it's an easy fix wherever it is.

She is a newbie.;) I don't think she knows how much work is into that engine.
No offense Shushi but I see 150 pumpin out the engine no problem.
You have to remember your XB motor was built to pass a certian set of Government regulations the same with your Boy friends motor. This motor is built purely for racing.

Sorry to get you excited about the oil leak. It is around the shift thing that goes into the engine. I put some bar's stop leak into it and it has slowed down a lot. The leak has also seemed to almost stop. The bike is still plenty fast. As for the dual throttle bodies buellracer33, I think that I will have to borrow your "duals". Just kidding, only if I see 150hp!!

You put stop leak in your primary???!!!! You do realize thats also your transmission fluid as well. I cant see that crap being any good for your clutch or your gears. Take the bike to your dealer & have that leak fixed properly.

"Shift thing that goes into the engine"

Take it back to the retailer for proper repairs, the part is probably a seal, thats a little worn or not in correctly, that sells for less than $10.00 bucks.

I am with Dyna on the primary, you really shouldn't put anything into that primary other than the recommended or equivalent type of lubricant. That shit could have bad effects on the rest of the drivetrain, clutch, etc, etc.

As for the 150hp I can see it being possible but not really reliable for the long term, but its racing the motor will probably be torn down every couple of races. I could be wrong.

Sushi is raw fish, me thinks someone is funnin' a little with a minor troll. Started off as a tease, but the BarsStopLeak shift-thingied her into fishing mode me thinks. ;)

Welcome aboard, have fun, Catch&Release.

I agree.

Frankly, the "XB leaks" was a give away.

They don't.

I'm actually a little surprised that nobody suggested she convert it to an open primary belt drive. :)

I think I've seen an open primary Buell once someplace.

Hey, with Harley now offering a synthetic lube for both the engine and tranny, why do we need to keep the two separate? Just have to add a filter to collect the little bits of gear dust from the primary/starter/tranny side before it circulates to the engine. After that who cares if the main seals leak a little bit. :) (Okay, I'll go back to work now....)

Enough about the raw fish chick,

How are you gonna squeeze 150 hp out of that puppie? and Is it gonna be reliable (or does that matter where its a racing engine) ?

Reliability matters in a race engine, but I think it's measured in races and time, not in miles. If you don't finish you can't win.

So, how long until there is just one oil tank/reservoir. Could this be one of the developments in the new engines?

I'd be a little (actually more than a little) worried about the swingarm. Hal's race bike is extensively modified to handle the stress. That's on a bike that is claiming 100 RWHP. With an engine putting out 150hp, the stress has too be that much greater on the swingarm.

I think Dyna posted some pics of the Hal's bike back in January. Maybe he can find them again and post some comparison pics.

Thats what I meant Mike,

With a motor putting out that kind of HP what is its life expectancy beofre being tore down for a re-build?

Somewhere on the site is a discussion on cylinders and a racer said they go four races between cylinder touchups if I read it right.

Quote:

Let the Buell and Ducs race in SS. It is the class in which they most fit. Factory Supersport machines are supposedly putting out over 130RWHP, the Buell and Duc PT bikes are right there in the same arens. Let them race head to head in SS instead of putting them in with 150 RWHP Superstock bikes.

Hmm, could this bike be competetive in superstock?

:)

"Raw fish chick"? thanks guys, I guess that things never change. Maybe next will be some "rice"jokes that I always find so funny.
I will take my bike into the dealer soon, as I don't want to replace my clutch. I'll ask about the syntheric oil, too.
