Well, then avoid Honda IL4's, and their thumpers for that matter, also Yamaha twins, as it seems nobody has a completely indestructible header stud from my experience. Then again maybe they do, and the Buell elves sneak in and replace the part on other makes of bikes with their 'inferior' studs when folks aren't looking. Later +4, and good luck. |

You gave it a good run. In the end you gotta do what you gotta do. I hope you find what you're looking for. |

Who fixed it the first and second time and where did you get the bolts to fix it. Can we see the rest of your exhaust setup. |

Anything you ride like a bat out of hell is going to break, whether it is a Buell on an IL4. Judging from the way you post about riding and seeing the pictures you posted of the stud last week it does not surprise me in the least that it broke, half ass workmanship saves you nothing. Dont't blame the bike for your ignorance. PS read about the maintenance on the IL4 and Ducatis before you buy one so you do not bitch on those on the other forums about how they suckered you in and ass raped you. Anyway good luck in your future endeavors and may he force be with you. |

Buelltroll, I found the cause of your bike's problem! The answer was in your ptofile...you knew it all along...you said in your profile..."Broken front isolator mount at 9.5k (Too many hard landings)" And you wonder why it snapped? Be fair amigo...don't do that to a Duc or the whole engine may fall off! Too bad it did not work for you.... |

I'll bet you keep breaking it because you over torque it. Then the thermal cycles stretch it enough to snap the bolt. Anyway, better luck with you next bike! |

It has to be the way the exhaust is mounted. This is not normal. |

get a arp stud. stop using the oem. the arp wont break. stock studs suck on all brands. any race shop knows this. ARP bolts and studs. mike |

I havent landed a wheely smoothly yet and I havent broke anything in 20K. I think the problem is located in how the D and D is secured. I would guess there is extra stress there. |

You stray from stock and you lose the standing to blame the bike or Buell for breakage.

It didn't break because of the wheelies, it broke because the bike has (IMHO) a mickey mouse after market front exhaust mount for his aftermarket exhaust. If this break happened after I posted telling you that you are going to keep breaking them, then I am sorry your bike broke, but not particularly sympathetic. You walked into te wilderness and took your chances... take it like a man. Please refer the next owner here, we can probably get it sorted in short order... At least your dealer is getting their money out of their investment in the Jims tool |

I have a pretty wild custom exhaust that was on the bike when I bought it. The mounting bracket welds broke (either due to poor welds or crazy v-twin vibrations or both) but now the pipes are just free hanging. I don't wheelie yet, but am I still at risk of breaking that bolt? Or even worse, cracking a head? They are millenium heads- not sure if that matters. Either way, if somthing breaks on my bike, I'm definetly blaming Eric Buell's craftsmanship! (joke) what does IMHO mean? |

An assembler replaces the stock parts. A mechanic figures out the problem and tries to resolve it in a way that it will never happen again. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance is such a valuable book. |

Both times were fixed by an authorized dealer. It IS a stock header with just the D&D. Buells resale value speaks 1000x louder than u assclowns and ur goodbyes. oh and I was up on forest hill and mosquitoe ridge yesterday not one wheelie was done. (Message edited by buelltroll on July 19, 2009) |
