Charlotte, If you get to that point, post a map or itinery (itinerarerary?) or way points and estimated dates or arrival times on the route. Might be a few last minute joiners, subject to your approval and application process and review since you're the basic ride leader on this one. Too far away with too many variables to know yet. Thanks. Mike(mud)J. |

OK Itinerary since this thread has rapidly degraded to lacking any kind of bike related content... Something like August 20th through 22nd in East Troy vicinity... 20th Anniversary and Battletrax and whatever else kind of trouble we can dig up... AUGUST 23 : North through Oshkosh, Keshena and Antigo to see Char's place in Pelican Lake Unless you are Spidey... crash at Char's build bonfire... roast weenies (no, not that kind), skinny dipping at midnight, etc. AUGUST 24 : North through Eagle River, Watersmeet, Houghton and tour of the Keewauna Penninsula... with backroads, black bears and red-neck spotting contest. Stay in or around Houghton or Copper Harbor, skinny dipping at midnight, etc. AUGUST 25 : Ride to Sault St. Marie along the southern shore of Lake Superior, pow wow hunting, raspberry picking, laughing at Newfie's hemmoroids, skinny dipping at midnight, etc. AUGUST 26 : Americans pretend to be Canadians, Canadians try to pretend to be Americans, fool the security guards, get arrested, feign remorse, Fish Fry, chocolate ice cream, skinny dipping at midnight, etc. Get the picture yet ? This is a rough itinerary... Newfie, you plan the trek around north shore of Lake Huron... rest is in the works... of course skinny dipping will only occur after dark and I will learn how to do Kung Fu in the water if anyone gets any weird ideas... Court, you better be coming with us... I will need to be back at work sometime resembling September 4th. Others can leave sooner and hop the ferry back to Manitowoc if they wish...

>>>>>>> Unless you are Spidey... crash at Char's build bonfire... roast weenies (no, not that kind), skinny dipping at midnight, etc. Either that is an invite or a stay the hell away from my place comment there. Alot of skinny dipping I might stick around for that. |

'Weird' is what the average male THINKS of every 2.5 seconds... and in Spidey's case every 0.5 seconds.... I have a three day weekend here in 5 minutes, so I will do a little planning on the ride this weekend and find a possible (SERIOUSLY) return route and post it... maybe even do some research on accomadations Monday if I get bored. Happy VD Bomber... |

Ok Charlotte, So I guess Aug 25 we stay somewhere in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. I won't have a problem getting back into the country, everyone loves a Newfie!!!! After Charlotte's Excellent Adventure Older Gal leads young Buell Guys through the Woods of Northern Wisconsin August 26th-Sault Ste. Marie to Espanola Leave Sault Ste Marie, ON and head to Espanola, according to Mapquest its about 128km - not nearly enough time on the bike for a good ride. We then head south to South Baymouth, ON through the middle of Lake Huron, Next we can tour that chain of islands for the day and find a spot to camp, crash, swim naked at midnight, practice ritualistic pagen beliefs around a bonfire, etc, etc. OR we can catch the ferry to Tobermary then onto Shallow Lake where there is a HD/Buell Retailer. August 27th - Owen Sound to Acton I will be heading to Acton Ontario on the next day to see some family then decide when to start my return trip home. its only about 150km so I may just stop for an hour then head east across Ontario to go home, possibly Kingston or Ottawa for the night. If anyone wants to ride back across Eastern Canada all are Welcome

Charlotte, Go to Mapquest driving directions and enter start and stop points. If you make the distances too great sometimes Mapquest will try to direct you to less direct or more highway/freeway routes. Sometimes you have to zoom in and pick out smaller towns to get the route you want. Then right click on the map and save to disk. What I do then is to import the saved maps into a Word document and add text as needed, or mileage between waypoints. There's neater and cleaner methods with different programs, and better tools (see the GPS thread somewhere either on the quick board or in an obscure KnowledgeVault category), but it works for my purposes. |

See, from Pelican Lake to East Troy it routed me thru Madison, and somehow I don't think that's the most efficient way to go. Nor the most fun. Total Distance: 277.36 miles Total Estimated Time: 5 hours, 5 minutes

Mikej, I had written out directions from East Troy up to Oshkosh, not Madison... not sure where you got Madison from...through Appleton... but secondary roads along the coast is cool... as long as we don't have to do Godforsaken Green Bay As you ALL know... I have been having trouble with my eyeballs, etc. since work required extended time on the computer... so, hence not much posting...my internet time has had to go bye bye too...Three months is long enough to feel like ! No JOKE !?! This may change soon as I have a brand new LCD today !!! YAY !!! (I am also attempting to re-negotiate my database duties, but somehow think this might be fruitless) If anyone is OPPOSED to me inviting some Harley friends on the trip, speak now or forever hold your peace... Otherwise we will bring them along just for shits and grins...but most will be at the 100th probably... Anyhow, maybe try the mappy thingey with the small towns I listed Mike and post them for me, then I won't have to wrestle with my screen and stave off the pukey feelings... Charlotte PS Spidey better be getting me Eminem tickets when M comes to Detroit... |

Charlotte, I am the Director of the local HOG group. I don't mind those guys. The only problem I have with them is they can't keep up in the twisties. |

And the ones that do keep up really gouge the pavement with their floorboards in the corners. |

If your looking for some good roads between Pelican Lake and Oshkosh etc, let me know. I have traveled that way more times than I can count. I can practically drive Hwy 45 from Milwaukee to Watersmeet, Michigan with my eyes closed. The most direct route, least milage, from Pelican Lake to Milwaukee would be Hwy 45 to Hwy 15(outside appleton) to Hwy 41 in Appleton, then its just a straight shot south to Milwaukee( 94, 894, 43, etc) (240 Miles from my house to my parents in Eagle River.) One of the most scenic roads, Hwy 47, goes through the Menomminee Indian Reservation. Man, what a road!! Not tight twisties, but more gradual higher speed sweeps. You can't beat the scenery either. Just keep it on the road, because there is only trees to stop you at the side of the road. |
