I love my XB, but at highway speeds (80+) I get wind buffed to death. Sure, you can do the fetal tuck, but on an out of town trip you arrive needing a chiropractor. I've been looking at these two options for a larger windscreen from American Sport Bike. http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/A9042.html http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/9142.html Neither one comes in black to match my bike. I like the look of the carbon one better and I think it's a better match for a black XB. Here's my question... has anyone installed one of these and do they help. Also has anyone painted one and did the finish hold up on the carbon/plastic. Thanks |

Thanks for the tip, I might have to give one a try. Did you already order one? If so, did it make a noticeable difference? |

I haven't made the purchase yet, but I pretty sure I'm going with the tall carbon windscreen. I haven't heard any feedback from the post so I'll just ask the folks over at American Sportbike how well it works. |

Please do post up your experiences...if I dont buy one first. I wish American Sport Bike was easier to navigate. Mabey their is something wrong with me but I can never find anything on there site without following a link from here. It would be nice if they would put pics of the different colors on their site. Tony, I bought the black tall screen for my ride. It took the air off my chest and put it up towards my helmet. Made rides a little more noisy also. The black color was a pretty close match to the midnight black on my scooter. (Message edited by stevedplumber on April 10, 2008) |

i installed the higher windscreen, it made things worse. im 6'3". not sure how tall you are, i think a shorter person it may be nicer because it will put the wind over your head. it made the wind go right into my helmet..not cool. |

Thanks for the feedback. I'm 5'7' so this may be a case where its good to be on the short side. Floor seats at a concert ain't one of them |

I am 5'-8" and the taller windscreen put the wind right at my helmet. As stated in my previous post |

It sound like the screen is a tad too short. Does anyone make a slightly taller screen?? I'm 6ft. Cheers, Bill |

I just bought a Zero Gravity Sport Touring windscreen for my 2008 XB9S (part no. 23-856-60). Is there any spacing difference between the 2003 and later models' mounting holes? The reason I ask is because the 2003 and 2004 and later look identical but the Zero Gravity part description says it fits 2003 - 2007 Lightnings. Anyone have any experience with this -- or have a good guess? |

Thanks! Here's another question: When I get the Zero Gravity windscreen on, I'd like to apply the Lightning badge found on the original/stock windscreen. How can it be removed from the original windscreen? Can I heat it up with a hair dryer? Will the heat release it? |

I had the carbon fiber larger screen on my old XB9S for a while. It definitely made a noticeable difference in the amount of windblast on the highway. Not as nice as a Firebolt with a zero gravity sport touring screen, but still an improvement over a stock XBS. |

I would recommend following carbon fairing for XB12S,XB12Ss,XB12Scg etc. It is as big as UL-X fairing. Are you interested in ?

I just put the Zero Gravity dark smoke sport touring screen on my '08 XB12Ss and find that it has really smoothed out my ride. I'm 5'10" and have a short upper body... score! |

Does anyone know if the Ulysses windscreen will work on the 07 Lightning? |

I installed the Madstad brackets with tall windshield. It's super adjustable and makes a big diff. NOW...I'm looking for ways to prevent the wind from coming up from around the front of the gas tank--noticeable at highway speeds. No real fairing option, and it won't take a whole lot of air smoothing materials, but should make nice reduction in air. Any idea? |

Jjellyneck- any chance you could post some pics from different angles of the Madstad installed? I've been considering that option but have seen very few pics actually on a bike. Thanks |

Jrwalt1- I believe the short answer is yes ... you can put the Uly flyscreen/windshield on a different model, but you also need some other parts as the attachment points are different. I don't know the official names off the top of my head, but right now you should have two mounting pieces on either side of your lights that your flyscreen bolts on to. To get a "stock" setup you would replace those with the three pieces that the Uly has and then attach the flyscreen. There might be a different method as well but I'm fairly certain that I had read of others making this conversion. |

Schwara, Thanks for the update. I am going to Santa Maria Harley today. I will check to see if they have the Ulysses set up. |

If it might still be useful I found pics in my manual that show the different "modules". Parts 2 & 5 on the Lightning and 8, 9, & 10 on the Uly.
