I'm looking for a full fairing (street)

Can I get some 360 pics of the Catalyst racing full (upper and lower) and Grandstand designs (lower) with approximate difficulty level to install.

Thanks,
Ryan

Why not wait a couple of weeks and see what Buell has in the pipeline?

Looks good. I will be picking up the Catalyst racing, or waiting to see if Buell releases a street version of the 1125rr so I can buy the fairing.

Jersey_thunder,

Do you have any info on the straps you had to fabricate and attach points?

Wow, that's a great looking fairing! makes the "pods" blend in nicely.

I got a quote for 1k installed for the catalyst full Street set. Parts alone are $1002.00. I think I am going to have to take them up on it. Now to find someone to paint it.

I had a chance to see the catalyst installed and it didn't have a very good fit. I will wait for Buell to release the Pace Bike fairing, or see if I can get one from them at a reasonable cost.

Anyone have the part #. It is different from the race fairing as the side panels go right over the pods (more form over function).

Thanks,
Ryan

I'll let it, but it doesn't mean they're gonna build it.

Believe Factory shall have lower kit available soon. Not race, but street version.

I hope so. I'd pay good money to have the Pace bike fairing, even though I would have to modify the belly pan for the stand.

Jersey,
Didn't intend to offend, but the one I saw in person was not fitted very well. The dents for the wind screen mount were not matched up, it looked like he had to cut some plastic in the pods, and the belly pan was not flush and hanging 2" below the exhaust. This was a guy at the Buell truck at Mid-Ohio. The quality was great, but I wasn't sure of the fit. Maybe the guy did it himself... What I am afraid of is that I order it and the installer does a poor job and I am stuck with a bad fitting 1k fairing.

Seriously - shoot Ernie or Mario at Glendale. Mario's racebike is ALSO his streetbike - he tapes up his lights and removes the kickstand to race it.

This was the bike that the Catalyst tooling was made for and is the prototype.

Mario's pretty helpful - but he's GM of the shop (busy guy) so email might be a couple days:

Dobieg2002, I have the Catalyst lowers and I think mine fit very well and remove easily for maintenance. Naturally not as good as a one piece unit but very acceptable. Check out my picture below. They are the best compromise yet between looks and cost.(about $250.00). They maintain all the original equipment for street riding and still play well enough for occasional racing at club levels. Minor fabricating of brackets was needed and a small amount of cutting for the kickstand. Brackets and Dzus fastners (maybe $30.00, and paint $150.00). Fiberglass for durability and repair if needed. I did a full write up back in July of 2008 with pictures. There are many out there I like but are out of my cost range. I got mine through Glendale and they are good people to deal with. Bob

Dobieg2002, Tony(Jersey_thunder) has been a great contributor to this forum with good, concise information and being in Ohio I would definitely give him a try if you are interested in Catalyst products. He said "IT'S ALL GOOD" and he's right. Bob

I have 2 dealers in my area Columbus Ohio. The one that I received the quote from has no experience with the 1125r but does alot of Drag bikes. I may still purchase the fairing, just being cautious.

Hey all, all this talk about full fairings and no one has even mentioned the Ilmburger Carbon Fiber full fairing kit...a bit pricey at $2500 (not really), but its carbon fiber...check out www.motosupply.com also known as Sierra Motorcyle Supply...The kit is imported from Germany so it may take some time...This is the same site I ordered my HPE exhaust...

The Ilmburger look s great, but the cost is prohibitive. It is was around 1/3 the cost and fiberglass I might consider them.

So let me ask all of you a question, and please forgive me if this has been in print in prior threads...Buell will be releasing a full fairing kit for the R? If so how would someone acquire this fairing kit? Is there a Buell Race catelog currently that offers various race parts? If so, how could I acquire this catelog? Lastly, if I do not have a race license, would i still be able to purchase none emissions affecting race parts from this catelog/Buell? Does anyone have pics of the Buell fairing kit?

Johnnysunami1967,

Most of the info is here:

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/475738.html?1247509288

The current catalog on the Buell site doesn't have 1125R race parts in it, I guess you could ask your dealer or inquire here.

Buell Fiberglass race bodywork includes upper, sides, belly pan and mounting hardware. Part Number M2000B.08AZ MSRP $1499.00

The race bodywork doesn't change cooling but does reduce drag. For a street bike with a stock muffler, you'd have to cut off the back of the bellypan for muffler clearance, cut clearance for the side stand, and trim out the headlight openings. None of that is hard if you're inclined to body work, but it certainly takes more effort to put it on a street bike. And of course Buell didn't test it for street use.

Ryan (Dobieg2002), the Buell fiberglass fairing @ $1499.00 might seem good especially with the mounting hardware, but as Anonymous has said in that link above you'd have to cut out for headlights. I did not want to do that on my M2 full fairing and believe me it would have been a hassle to get it right enough for street riding. The other alternatives which have headlight cutouts are costly. Why not wait for BMC street version of the 1125RR and retrofit to yours or do something inexpensive for now until more/better options come out. By the way, nice to see your interest in full fairings and I do love BMC's race fairing. Bob

bob_thompson,
thank you...
in my opinion...if you haven't had a track day yet...take the money PUT SOME UPGRADES...(STABILIZER/UPGRADE MASTERS CYLINDER/SUSPENTION TUNE/ETC)and get a couple track days..THEN if you have to get a full fairing..better investment, better return..my .02
