I have a bone stock Uly that stalls on slow, sharp right hand turns. It starts right back up and runs fine until I turn again. Only happens on right turns, no other time. Also starting to surge a little bit during sustained speeds. Full throttle runs are great with no hesitation or power loss. Any ideas? (Message edited by vwsinner on July 10, 2009) |

When you say slow, is it slow enough for you to be 'steering' the bike and turning the handlebars? If so it I guess it could be loom wiring - that is just a guess mind you. I have had a few electrical gremlins related to the loom in the headstock area but not that particular one. If it was the headstem loom wiring you could probably easily reproduce it with the engine running and sweeping the bars. I'm taking a guess at the wiring for the kill-switch. If you had a break in this that was pulled open circuit momentarily by movement of the handlebars it would behave as if you had flipped the kill switch off and on - purely a theory as I have never heard of anyone having an issue with this. The other thing that could potentially be affected by turns could be the bank angle sensor. When these are faulty they can cause problems without throwing a fault code - if you search 'Big, Bad & Dirty' for BAS you will get a heap of posts. Not much help I'm afraid but we have to start somewhere. |

+1 to Rays ideas. Look for chaffed wires around the steering stem, and for a section of loom that gets 'tight' when turning the bars to the right, possibly pulling on a connector. And for a ground wire that may be getting pulled when turning right. Or, conversely, one that gets pinched when turning. Plan on taking the flyscreen off, and start looking. And take some time. It may take a while to find the issue. Dave |

Thanks guys. I tracked down a few bare wires from the previous owners "professional" lights installation. I can't even drive with both sets of extra HID lights on, so off they go, and hopefully so will the kill switch problem. |

Bare wires didn't fix, but I isolated the problem to the harness under the triple clamp to the back of the bike. Rides great now, woo hoo! |
