Hi. Looking for some input on switching to a 26 tooth front pulley. Is there enough change in acceleration or other areas to justify the 170$. Thanks for your time, Bill. |

From what I have read there is not a significant difference in acceleration and it will screw with the speedometer. That being said... I plan on changing mine to a 26t soon; I figure a little bit is still an improvement. BTW- Do the steel not the lightweight aluminum one. |

Bill I think you will be happy with the 26 tooth. Even though I did the 26/55 the results where satisfactory. You have a 27/61 now IIRC or 2.25:1 so the 25 should get you 2.34:1. When I switch from the 27/61 to 26/55 I dropped about 300 rpm at 60 mph. So I would expect an increase of about 200 rpm at 60 mph for you. This should be noticeable in the first few gears. i like the 29/61 the best with my tubers. accel stays good and the bike pulls to the top in all gears. on my street motors the 29/55 combo is so tall that the motor won't pull to the top in 5th, but 4th is good. if you are after acceleration increases the 26/61 will do it but the top end will suffer. the speedo on the early tubers is run by the front wheel but around 99 they switched to a sensor on the trans top. there is a speedo adjuster available online. have fun, tim |

29/61 is near identical to 26/55. When I installed the XB swingarm in to my S3 I had to find some combination that worked because of the longer swingarm and no adjustments, I found that 26/55 and a Uly 135T belt gave me close to the same specs as my old 29/55 128T combo. At 100kph(60mph) it is doing 3000rpm's. 26/61 would increase acceleration and most probably loose some top end. I got my 26T pulley from Baker. 55T pulley's were stock fitted on Australian spec Buell's, they were needed to pass our poxy Australian Design Rules (ADR) Cheers Jodie |

I go my 55 tooth pulley from the Buell. You can get them black or natural. In my previous post I referenced 25 tooth but I meant 26. Joe (Message edited by bad_karma on July 09, 2009) |

I found the steel 26T, with lightening holes in it, 'LongLife' ? for about $132 retail online, but at the moment now, I can't find the link. I'm thinking about it too. |

I run a 26 tooth pully. It made driving around town and two up a little easier. It does make the speedo say you are going faster then what you actually are (about 5 mph at 60) but it is worth it. I have 10,000 on my aluminium one, no problems. |
