Well, I have the correct SigSeries cover, still in its box with all its papers. Never installed. Since I may be adjusting timing soon, I'll take a poll....would you install it? Or leave it boxed? I hate to "use up" an original...but they do look cool on the bikes. |

No. Eventually heat dirt and grime will knock down the numbers. It you look at the cover the numbers are raised. If they were engraved you would be ok. The one I got with the 95 was on the bike for over 20 thousand miles. It was worn so much you could not make out the numbers. |

I thought the numbers were stamped into it, like a trophy shop (the 1365/1399 numbers, that is). The color numbers are just inked on, that was my main concern... Know anyone who can make a reproduction? |

Joe, do you have the documentation (the mini build sheet)? Take a look at your cover and run you finger over it and you will see what I mean. I went to a trophy shop and they said they could not duplicate it. I am not familiar with the method they used but it appears to be etched. |

I just looked for you information on the S2 list and I do not have it. I need your VIN, pm me with it. Also I have a strange request. On your mini build sheet do you have the letter X anywhere on it? |

Court, if you could scan them and send them to me in a TIF or other file that would be great. I would like to have them on file to correlate build dates. I am not sure how many Buell was producing each day but I am thinking it was not constant, at least in the early days. Frank |

>>>I am not sure how many Buell was producing each day but I am thinking it was not constant, at least in the early days. I can assure you it was not constant. Initially it was constrained by how long it took to do the bodywork, that constrained by set up time. Then heat was introduced to accelerate cure time. But, it was still the constraining factor. We also struggled with the supply chain art of getting a thousand parts to arrive at precisely the same place at the same time. Dave and Brankin could tell you a great deal about the particulars. Gene Gazetti was driving the process. |

Why not cover it in with some clear plastic like that tank flapper stuff and run it? I wish I had one for mine (#814), but since I don't, I'm gonna run my NRHS cover until I get a new ignition; then I'll run a clear cover. (Message edited by Phelan on July 09, 2009) |

I just whish I had ANY of the documentation for our 2 S2's. The Sig covers would be icing on the cake. Brad |

Bluz brings up something I have been thinking about since I got Gwen. A re-issue. The S2 torch has been passed and many kits have been lost, sold or never claimed. I am sure a large amount of new owners would love a re-issue. I already asked Brankin and he seems interested... |

Hm. Could we have a 15-year anniversary commemorative reissue, maybe? (wink, wink) I'd be game for a spare to run, and the original to keep packaged.... |

Hmmm that makes the idea even better! So Court what wheels do we have to start greasing? I will spearhead if needed... If I can pull a few hundred Buellers together for the 20th this will be cake |

Header is stock. I really like the way the stainless turned a rich gold-tone. I think it would be cool to have a "replacement" in the presentation box with the original paperwork but she wears the original signature points cover proudly! |

That's a late stock header. Nice S2. Nearly stock except for airbox cover. |

Doug, Very nice S2. But.... Is the drive belt as tight as it looks in the picture? If it is, you're gonna have trouble! Looser is better... Brad |

Judging by the license plate mount I'd say it's been repainted? That is a nice-looking bike. I'm hoping to have a twin out there soon! (Message edited by Easy_Rider on July 14, 2009) |

I just picked up an S2 that does not have the plate installed. I wanted to know is there a way to contact Buell and see If they will sell me one. I know a long shot. It is a 95 and the last 8 of my vin are S3000007 so I am guessing it is an early bike. Am I right in this? |

You can contact Buell but you will not be able to buy one. As far as if it is a early bike depends on the first part of your VIN. I am betting it starts with 4MZRT. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/315330.html?1249658702 (Message edited by f_skinner on August 26, 2009) |

Ok Folks... On the Signature Plate front, I have in my possession a VERY interesting folder of information. I have ALL of the original invoices for the manufacturing of the original Signature Series stuff. Including some prototype holders and packaging. I've had the pleasure of a long conversation with the person that used to be with HD that did made the Signature stuff happen. He loaned the folder to me. Quite an interesting story. I'm going to pull a Court here and say "Ask me about it sometime". Seriously, when I get a bit more time to do it justice, I will scan and redact all of the stuff I have. I think it's important to have it out here and archived for posterity. Brad |
