Although if all the sponsors paid by the year it would only be around $21,000. Still way more than this board costs to run. |

Badweb is hosted on dedicated modern servers, uses a ton of bandwidth which isn't free, and has 24/7 on call technicians to fix things should something happen. None of that is cheap. |

This board is the best thing going for all of us in the Buell community. The rules are reasonable and they seem to be applied in an even handed manner. If anyone has constructive criticism that would improve it, great. Otherwise it is just pointless bitching and that is of no value to anyone. Let's all just step back and think about what we have here and how to keep it going for the benefit of everyone. |

Come on guys...Don't get all wound up about simple differences of opinion. As for me, I would even be willing to "pay" a small membership fee to be part of this community. I look at it this way: It would have cost me a lot more to pay someone to teach me what I have learned about my bike from folks on this site. I am not suggesting this but just wanted to put things in perspective. |

Hell, even if it only costs half as much to run as the sponsors pay out, do you begrudge Blake for making money off the site? I'm not saying he does, but so what if he does?? |

Court, I did have a lot of respect for you, the attack is totally uncalled for. I was merely pointing out that Blake has a perfectly valid financial reason for maintaining tight control over this board. The name calling is really below you, or so I thought. I have no problem with Blake making money off this enterprise, I just wish he would be honest about his reasons for the control issue. And yes, if this board costs 21 grand a year to run, then a little economics 101 is in order. Either this is a business or it isn't, either it makes a profit or it doesn't. But if you guys want to resort to schoolyard rhetoric, fine. |

If Badweb ever goes belly up, I'll keep riding and wrenching on my own.. then when the bikes blow up because of my lack of mechanical knowledge I'll sell the scraps and enjoy the memories. This website's members and sponsors have are the reason that I get as much seat and wrench experience as I do. That being said, I don't agree with all of the stuff that happens on this board, but overall it's a good place maintained by good people. Let's enjoy it for what it is and try to keep the complaints to a minimum. Kwitcherbellyakin. |

It's a great site. It's made me paranoid about my bike ( 10 bad to 1 good) it's given me great insight, tons of usable information, some b.s. and a lot of laughs. Take it at your liesure and enjoy. Buell is good, ride and share what others are missing out on. (Message edited by niceguyeddy on July 09, 2009) |

>>>Still way more than this board costs to run. That was a patently inaccurate statement. Blake has been honest and if here were totally honest and logical he'd pull the plug in a heartbeat as he, a successful engineer and his wife, an Architect, have a life beyond the hours it takes to keep this place in order. . . not just the mechanics but maintaining some sort of social order. There has never been any profit motive. If there were he would have accepted one of the prior offers to sell the site. There is, I am sure, a desire to make it hurt as little as possible. As a person who spends over a grand a month helping other Buell owners, I can appreciate that. You simply leapt to a conclusion and hit a rock entering the water. I am one of only two people here that has survived the various Buell boards through history. I know what works and what doesn't. Blake is doing a stellar job of running this site and he's earned the respect of thousands of owners in many countries as well as the respect of Buell and Harley-Davidson management. That's a tough nut to crack. It wasn't an attack. If I attack, it'd be clear. It was a statement of fact and it was accurate. Respect is earned through actual accomplishment. I get that from my family, friends, student, professional colleagues and associates . . . not the internet. By the way . . . personally . . . I hope he's making a boatload of money from the site. The other site I am active on costs me $75 a year . . . and it's a steal at that. |

You know, this site is free and frequented by knowledgeable people and Buell celebrities. There is a reason they are on this site, it is well run, full of good people and good information. I have had a respectful disagreement with a moderator over a post, I came into it with respect for his position and responsibility to all of us as a group and NOT individually. We exchanged "Private Messages" and we both understood the others views and went on our way with respect for the way the other handled it. Bottom line is, I can state my case respectfully and if I dont like the outcome, I can go to another site if I feel that strongly. My choice. Your Post may be a cut-and-dry case like the one this thread is referring to or yours may fall into a "Grey area" of the rules, but a grey area is just that, it can go either way. If I were running the site, I would err to the side of caution. It causes less confusion and ends up ultimately shrinking that grey area. The moderators (been one myself) may not even like the decision they have to make in these grey situations, but in the best interest of the site and its future, they have to. Blasting them on a thread does no good and only causes ill will, division, and make you look petty and foolish. There are other free Buell sites, and personally, I think they are far, far below Badweb. Let's get back to BUELLS now. |

Shane, I am with you. It is schoolyard rhetoric. This is the reason I like the Old School section. It is the last area besides the Thumper thread that you can actually get answers to question without getting attacked. |

Someone who was not a sponsor was selling merchandise manufactured by said individual. So that person posted to classified's asking why his classified ad was deleted and there you are. |

Because what he was selling was a thread removal tool. Now we have to wait until the auction on ebay is over so we can get it and remove the thread. |
