So I’m not a mat wizard by any means. But I found this cool web site. http://www.ajdesigner.com/phphorsepower/horsepower _equation_power_to_weight_ratio.php What brings me to ask this question is my dad came home with a 08 ZO6 which has Hp of 506 and ruffle weights 3100lbs. according to this web site it has a power to weight ratio of 0.163 so then I put in 103hp and 515 for my fat a$$ and came up with 0.2 now I know the ZO6 will take me on the big end but what do you think about the little end? Is this even a relative point to bring up. |

It's a lot more complicated than that. In short- you're going to lose on both ends. |

+1 its a lot more complicated. Oh and for what its worth, my race computer calculates my best launch 0-60 at 3.7 seconds, quarter in high 11's. Just a tad behind a Z06 with a pro driver, so hopefully your dad shifts like my mother |

XB12 buells make like 85HP to the wheel or so? who has some real numbers of RWHP? |

Numbers vary based on dyno and weather, but pretty much 85hp at the wheel is the general consensus. 450hp at the wheel is what I have been seeing on stock C6 Z06's |

This reminds me of the thread on the quick board from awhile back. The bike may get the jump, but some serious aerodynamic drag will kick in at higher speeds and actually hurt the bike more than it will hurt the Vette. |

It is a relative point. Based on that simple math, your bike can accelerate quicker than your dads vette. You could also tell your dad that, per cylinder your bike makes more power (again based on simple math... Corvette 506hp / 380cu. in. = 1.33 hp/cu.in. Buell XB12 103hp / 74cu.in = 1.39 hp/cu.in. But the corvette has more power per cylinder. Vette = 63.25 hp/cyl. Buell = 51.5 hp/cyl. So again, yes you have a valid point. But its much like statistics, you can use math in a veriety of ways to get the results that you want to present. So I say give the ol'man sh** until he comes up with his own math to fire back at you. Enjoy! OH, and can you ask him if it would be ok if I took that corvette for a drive? |

Any way you look at it, both are more power than any sane person needs on the street. Then again, motorcyclists, sport bike riders in general, aren't typically known to be the sanest people on earth. Odie nailed it with dollars:fun. |

Mnbueller, the Z06 is 427 cubes. 1.18 hp/cu.in The ZR1 is 380 cubes and 620hp, or 1.63 hp/ci |

You can compare engine statistics if you want to debate who's engine is stronger or more efficient, but the only way to figure out who will win on a strip is to do it. The bane of motorcycle power is utilizing it. Your dad's 'vette has many times more rubber on the road and weight up front that would probably allow him to launch quicker without burning rubber or going over backward. |

Expanding on Eldredma's comment, what is a good 60' time at the drags for a street bike? I was running ~2.5 seconds 60' on my 12.04@114 and 12.05@115. These were my first runs down the 1/4 on my 12R. ~2.5 I know is horrible for a car, but I'm thinking I still should be able to get a sub 2 second 60'. |
