Seems like the harness looped through the dash on my bike. I had to carefully remove a couple pins from the harness to put my new dash on, I didn't bother to mark the wires since there was only a couple and they lined up with same colors on the receiving side of the plug.

There's a small barb that you can carefully press in with a dental pick or something of the sort, then pull the pin out.

Something to do with the M2 tach I guess.

Hope this helps, call me if you'd like more details and I'll go to the garage and walk through it 801-971-4493.

I'm running a X1 dash and tach, needed slightly different sized foam gaskets for mine too.

Didn't think that would apply, don't know if there were different sized tach's for the M2's

in 99 they changed over to electronic speedo from cable driven,

The cable speedo and tach combo was a smaller diameter than the newer sensor driven speedo/tach combo...

Oh, the -97Y indicates an earlier pn doesn't it. So a panel spec'd for the earlier model years would have too large a hole.

Opposite, the holes will be too small, i tried to get my gauges to fit into a 2000 dash, and it was way too big. Hes best to sell it off if its the buell one with the pegasus on it, those go for a decent amount of money.
