What is the situation with TWO and the new gas station. I have been seeing a lot of talk about TWO over on the Goldwing board and it is all negative. A couple of them had a run in with the owners over some reservations and they posted up a hissy about it. It is still the same ole TWO right? We will all descend upon them in October and I just want to make sure I don't need to find a new place to camp. |

I haven't heard anything in a while about "new dales" or whatever its being called. I have heard very conflicting things from them being hostile to the best people on earth. I have never heard anything negative about TWO. |

I had no problem with the folks at "not dales" last October. They were friendly, and I made a point to be friendly to them as well. As for the thread, I don't know what to say. They are Goldwing owners. I guess there weren't hot tea and crumpets and anyone to wipe their butt for them when they showed up. Run down? It's looked exactly the same every year I've been there. |

Hey Micah, I don't know but maybe they don't like people who need a reverse on a motorcycle. |

As for the thread, I don't know what to say. I know what to say. You can't please everyone. Look, there are two people running T.W.O. 2! During peak times it's all they can do to keep up with all that goes on. Brit and GT are a lot like us, a bit unorganized, and sometimes stressed. Maybe because of it, who knows, but if it were to change, it wouldn't be the same. Run down? It's looked exactly the same every year I've been there. I've been going to T.W.O. for well over 20 years. They've had their ups and downs. They've endured the split up (the "airport" across the way used to be part of T.W.O.) they've endured their fair share of poor years. The place looks almost exactly like it did way back when. No it's not new, no it's not a 5 or 4 star resort. Frank's (the airport) is newer, and has more "stuff". If that's what's needed, then by all means go see Frank. He's a great guy, and is very motorcycle friendly. BadWeBbers have stayed in his cabins, and were happy there. Me? I like T.W.O. Brit and GT treat me like family. Have I had some less than great times over the years. Well, I did say they treat me like family. Buelltoberfest? I'll be at T.W.O. Most everything will originate from there, regardless of where everyone sleeps. It's at least easy to find, and a great meeting place. my 2¢ |

I think we are talking about TWO different things. (Pun intended.) Micah, seems you're watching something relevant to TWO- Brit and GT are good peeps, no question, salt of the earth. I can't access that thread- what's the dustup about? +1, Jeremy- at "not Dale's" I got what I needed, was treated well as a paying customer. I think we've established that. (I hope for "not Dale's" they've figured that out.) If they lose the business, surely one of us will step in and buy/manage the place. I'm planning on a majority of cooking at the campsite, after a run to the Wallyworld in Dalhonega, but I won't make the mistake of denying myself a hearty TWO breakfast again. |

(I hope for "not Dale's" they've figured that out.) I believe they have. The last time I had to go there, there was someone different at the cash register, and a lady working as well. I was treated as well as any other gas station. It's still "Not Dale's" because we're not treated special, but we are treated well. TWO is TWO, sounds like the goldwing guys have the pantys on too tight. I think they read too much into the "Motorcycle Resort" description. It's a campground, a lodge, and an old trailer. Nothing more, nothing less... With the exception that they have excellent food, and they treat regulars like family. |

Somehow, GT and Brit have created a place that (for some) feels like home. I can't describe the way just sitting on the porch makes me feel. If you can't relax and enjoy at TWO, there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with you. It ain't fancy, but it's perfect. |

I am not defending the folks comments on the goldwing board with this.. I just want to get that out there first.... Just looking at this from a different perspective. It seems like the complaints started with someone showing up to TWO... and finding it locked up with nobody there. Then trying to figure out what to do from there. I think if I didn't know much about the place, and I showed up like that. I would figure they either: A) Were closed for some reason. B) Didn't really care if anyone wanted to stay there or not. The comments of it being run down; Well, TWO has a cozy atmosphere. I happen to love it there. As was said... maybe these folks like to be pampered while they "camp"... I dunno. I didn't realize that they didn't serve dinner all week. The complaints about the drive way were a bit funny. Makes me wonder if Goldwings just don't do well on gravel? |

I pretty much agree with Ratyson on all counts - The original complaint is justifyable, and I also didn't realize they didn't do dinner all week. I like the atmosphere, and I decide to do Buelltoberfest (I'm really hoping I can) and can't find a cabin to crash at, I won't hesitate to stay at TWO. |

Makes me wonder if Goldwings just don't do well on gravel? JMHO, gravel has everything to do with the rider not the bike. My wing does just fine on gravel, 2 up loaded for 14 days of camping. Moab was a blast, you guys should of seen the Off road crowd's faces when we pulled in there on the wing. I promptly dismounted and dawned my buell hat and they all just rolled their eyes as they continued on with their business. Yeah, you couldn't wipe the smile off my face.... |

More than likely the visitor was later than was explained to Brit and GT and they didn't think to tell them when they closed or they didn't remember being told when check in was. If you called them to make reservations and explained that you wouldn't be in town until 5:00, Brit and GT would have explained that they wouldn't be there but would make arrangements for the key to be available. It ain't their first rodeo at TWO. It's a lot easier to pop off on a bulletin board even when deep down you KNOW it's your fault. I have a sneaking suspicion this is the case here. |

I guess I'd be pissed if I went and the place was closed when I get there. Any place, the Grocery Store, the Gas Station, any place. I'd be mad at myself though. When traveling, I make sure I know the operating hours of anywhere I'm going to sleep. Yeah, T.W.O. ain't fancy, and neither am I. |

Looking forward to setting up camp there, for Buelltoberfest. Self-sufficiency at the campsite is necessary and pleasurable. Gourmet food prepared by GT and Britt's kitchen crew is not to be missed. Be on time when they say the feed bag is on, and have some good eats. (I'm diabetic, gotta make sure I have the food stocks I require, YMMV.) Making a run to Dahlonega's Wallyworld is a good thing. |

Does TWO require reservations for camping or is it a first come first serve space availability situation? |
